Re: [clandestino] Please, share your advice and opinion here - DBS on OSP - A particular case(mine)
My best advice is that you find someone who has experience tuning DBS.

I wouldn't suggest trying to figure it out yourself, because setting the DBS too deep is much more dangerous than having a DBS that is too shallow.

You can't really evaluate DBS by looking at forward speed alone. You need to look at how the canopy responds to riser input (with the brakes stowed) to see if you have a useable DBS. If you tune for minimum forward speed at opening, it's easily possible to give yourself a setting that is so deep that the canopy just sinks out on riser input and doesn't turn--which is obviously worse than useless.

That looked perfectly fine. It was nicely parked when the bottom skin slammed open. It pressurized quick, and it took off as soon as you cleared the brakes.

You may want to try this. Hold the toggles down more instead of letting the toggles right back up. Make sure you pull the toggles down enough to ensure you pull the Brake setting off the white loop. (It usually comes off anyway but it can hang up.) Then, don't let up all the way so the canopy doesn't surge. Adjust and steer as necessary. It's especially helpful when you're low.

Otherwise, that was an awesome BASE jump.

That was a little too practical & helpful for this place.

Carry on.
