Is there any Travel Insurance that covers base, climbing & skydiving?
Hi,
I'm Canadian, and about to head to the States for a few months for climbing at Red Rocks, Nevada, as well as skydiving. I'm also planning on enrolling for a FJC.
MEC and the Co-Operators had kickass insurance coverage years ago that covered pretty much anything other than Nascar, but they dropped climbing and canopy sports, Dang.
Does anyone know of any Travel Insurance that covers fun stuff?

Brad

PS, also looking for climbing partners in Red Rocks, (and Indian Creek) and I'd be happy to GC.

I saw something about this two days ago, but I haven't read all of it.
I know it's european, but I guess they cover all over the wolrd

Please remember that the FFCAM insurance is valid for cliff jumps only so unless the OP is planning to enroll to one of these cliff jumping FJC´s Yuri is talking about in the other thread, this insurance won´t be that much of help to him. :)

Clandestino, Thanks for posting The French Base Association Insurance link, it looks like a good deal if you live in Europe, but with the Worldwide extended coverage it comes up to 277 Euros ($300 USD), but I crunched the numbers, and It's a better deal for any trip over 150 days.
I found Tugo, through the Alpine Club of Canada,
https://www.alpineclubofcanada.ca/acc-trip-insurance/ They cover anything but pro motorized sports, rodeo stuff, and unlicensed scuba. I specifically asked about skydiving and base, there might be a hiccup if it's an illegal jump, but otherwise, it's covered, at $2.70 Canadian ($2 USD) per day, sweet.

And Markus, I don't plan on jumping any E's for a while, just a big safeish bridge with a slow river and a potato field DZ.

Hmm after looking at the terms and conditions of this policy here:
http://www.base-jump.com/images/Pdf/Insurance_Notice_15-16.pdf

I noted the following:

PERSONAL ACCIDENT BENEFIT EXCLUSIONS
In addition to the general exclusions, the following are not covered under the “Personal Accident” benefit:
• accidents resulting from:
- acrobatic exercises, base jumping, bungee jumping

So perhaps it doesn't cover base like people are saying??

It looks to me they provide two insurances: The "Personal Insurance and Emergency Assistance" and "Extended Personal Accident Insurance"

That exclusion seems to be only for "Extended Personal Accident Insurance".

I'm not convinced the FFCAM offer mentioned earlier covers BASE. Read the policy and make your own decision. I'm happy to explain my thoughts by PM.

I'm searching for anything to cover me at the World Meet in Chicago and the Mother Of All Boogies in MOAB for both skydiving and BASE but I'm starting to think I'm going to have to stick with skydiving. I live in Australia but I have both UK and Australian Passports.

I've been using Azimuth for Malaysia but the maximum cover is $10,000, which simply isn't enough for the US.

World Nomad specifically excludes "BASE Jumping", "Wingsuit Flying" and "Skydiving (over 1 jump)" in their adventure sports policy. They used to cover BASE.

This may vary depending on your country of residence and destination. I had to get a quote to see the list of adventure sports they covered.

A few days ago, these exclusions were listed on their front page but they've been removed and buried in the fine print available after applying for a quote.

Edit: This is the front page I was looking at previously with the listed exclusions.

Edit 2: BASE is covered if your country of residence is USA.

yes, Mick... unfortunately, WN is only good for those in the USA.

they also have horrible customer service. so fuck them. Tongue

unfortunately, i think i helped run off one of the last good insurance companies out there that used to cover BASE jumping. :(

I've had confirmation the emergency assistance section of the FFCAM worldwide policy covers BASE jumping from cliffs.

Yes! The Northman insurance company from Ottawa has a policy that specifically covers B.A.S.E, W.s BASE and many other things.

They only insure Canadians until August 1, then they have an international policy. "Out of bounds" was the only exclusion.

Oh almost forgot they can add a life insurance pay to the policy.
