2016 - New BASE transfer service at Monte Brento
For the 2016 season there is a new bus service to take jumpers up Monte Brento run by the local taxi drivers (Giovanni and partners).

Giovanni has already been active for the past few months and has shown to be reliable person who offers at good service at a fair price.

Here is the Facebook for the new "Brento BASE Transfer":

Giovanni has now bought some more vans so he will have more capacity for the 2016 season.

Yes - Fabio BASE bus is still around - a little competition is good for everyone.

Happy holidays to you all,

Keep in mind, Fabio drives much much faster, so you'll get to the exit point faster. Also, Fabio won't charge you if you need a ride back down, the taxis will.

Pros and cons to both services, at least now there is competition and a choice Smile

Taxi 10 euro per ride

Fabio 15 euro per ride (necessary to pre-purchase block of 6 or 10)

When I was there last year two jumpers chose not to jump on an evening load. Fabio was screaming at me on the phone telling them to jump. He then proceeded to take three hours to pick them back up, after which he said no more free rides down.

That was the last time I took his bus. I would rather pay less per ride and deal with adults. The taxi guys are good people.

What do you think we are, Europeans?

As Americans, it's our god given right not to hike.

I had a very similar experience with Fabio, I my case me and two other jumpers had to walk all the way down to the little town (half way down) It took us around 3 hours.

I am not going to get into the full story of what happened. I don't want to talk sh!t behind someone's back. Ill just say that I was not happy how Fabio dealt with the situation. under some situations, no free rides back will be offered and the cost of a ride down may be upwards of 100 euro. don't just assume you are going to get a free ride every time you don't jump.

I will be very happy to use a taxi and pay for 10 euro for my rides up and pay again if I need to come down.

Yeah, but given the price difference you would need to ride down on every second lift to break even Wink

Maybe people should take into effect the weather for themselves and not rely on others that way you wont be caught on exit in afternoon making bad decisions oh but that's too much to ask from jumpers these days hahah ..

Or better still he should just say no return ride on afternoon load

simple as ..TongueTongueTongueTongue

In reply to:
Keep in mind, Fabio drives much much faster,

Ive used both, and in time, never really noticed a difference. Driving style may differ, but results seem to be the same.

The bus (regardless of taxi or Fabio) also drives a longer way than the normal hike. At a decent tempo, hiking takes the same time, and you only have to pay a taxi or Fabio for half the ride. Own transport and a designated driver per load is even easier.

And if you take it a few steps slower or faster, you're not stuck in a 40+ people traffic jam on exit....

I'm with Jarno on this one.

I visited Brento in June for the first time in a decade, and I was honestly shocked by the dependency most of the jumpers show on the commercial shuttle services. Most of the jumpers I met didn't even know that there was another way up, let alone where it was. I remember running 4 or 5 loads in a day during the winter back then, just because we were rotating drivers and packing fast with smaller groups.

We want to inform all ours customer that any time they use one of our services, they receive a stamp on their fidelity card.
The card it's total free (Don't need to pay any extra money and it's not an subscription).
The fidelity card give you just the chance to have a ride free every 15 runs done.
You don't have your card? No worries! just ask the taxi driver and he will be happy to give your personal fidelity card.
Have a nice day

As there was some discussion before about getting picked up in case of bad weather:

Brento BASE Transfer (Giovanni and the taxi drivers) ask a fixed fee of 40 euro total in case you want bringing back down.
BBT now have 4 vans and are the preferred transport service.

Adriana has also started to offer a shuttle service so now you have 3 options to choose from.

Can you ride down to Arco with him if he brings another load and you meet him at the top or does the 40EUR fee still apply?

Are all the services dropping off in the same location?

Re: [gharrop] 2016 - New BASE transfer service at Monte Brento
If the bus is already there you won't need to pay to come down (assuming you don't make them wait for you)

In answer to Tom's question, the drop off points are very close, within 400 metres of each other. Fabio and Adriana go slightly further down the track, the Taxis prefer not to do the last steep hill to spare their vehicles.
