Statute of limitations
Any lawyery types out there know what that statute of limitations would be for jumping in a national park? Would love to put out some memorial type videos, but wonder if theres a bust risk.

Re: [hjumper33] Statute of limitations
From my friend who is a former US Attorney (paraphrased by me): Technically, for cases "not" involving murder, child protection, terrorism, bankruptcy, wartime fraud against Uncle Sam & DNA related offenses, the statute of limitations is 5 Years. However, the federal cock knobs can go after you under the fugitives provision, which, is ambiguous at best and the "Douchebag" lawyerly types who wrote provision meant it to be so. BTW, my two best friends are lawyers and they are fucking assholes at best so if you are a lawyer, you know what I think of you. Tongue

Re: [hjumper33] Statute of limitations
That guy who used to get shot out of cannons made a few videos that were publicly sold with a decent amount of NP jumping. He seems to avoided any sort of prosecution. I have two of his but no DVD player.

5 years. But there is also the possibility that if you were to get busted in the future, the prosecuting U.S. Attorney's office could use the footage against you to prove prior conduct.

And yes, we lawyers are generally douchemonkeys, hence my avatar.

Re: [hjumper33] Statute of limitations
Even after statute of limitations has run out, they could still use the video against you. They couldn't charge you for those jumps, but they could use them to show a pattern for future charges. Edit the video to remove footage that could link you to the jump. Have a friend post the video's for you or create an alias to post yourself.

I think it would be a memorial video for friends to remember those who aren't around anymore. Not a look at me video. There are probably people all around the world who may want to see them in that context. hjumper33 probably doesn't want to get into legal trouble while sharing a memorial video.

I think what hjumper33 wants is to be in a hot tub full of Astroglide, me, and Peaches.

Dude, don't you remember the rashes we got from the astroglide last time? Not making that mistake again!

Re: [hjumper33] Statute of limitations
Hjumper33,

In order to have a statute of limitations clock start ticking, you have several issues to overcome. If you were to show a video of a jump, in a NP area, and they could acertain who you are, they could then issue a warrant, using your own video as evidence. The clock starts ticking once they "nps" are aware of the incident, not when the incident happened. That is what they would say and use in court to prevent any statute of limitations issues.

If you wish to show these jumps, ensure faces are not able to be seen, focus on the jumps themselves, and the abilities of the jumpers. Takes away from the overall video, but that's just my 2cents, from one of the guys on the other side.
