I have a Zak2 with an OSP 265 (PIA 282) packed on it. It packs firm/tight. I can for sure go down to an OSP 245 (probably a normal fit). How would a BJ 240 pack on this Zak2? According to Atair manual an OSP 265 has volume of 580 in^3 and according to Consolidated rigging the BJ 240 has volume of 595 in^3.

So based on these charts the BJ 240 would be too tight on my Zak2. What have been your experiences with OSP vs BJ pack volume.

it would easily fit probably not as tight as your 265, actually I would put money on it

could you please check the volumes of a BJ280 and an OSP285? thanks!those two dont seem to differ that much in volume...

according to the manuals:

OSP 285 is 638 in^3
BJ 280 is 689 in^3

I don't know how each manufacturer measures these volumes.

OSP 245 is PIA size around 265sqft. If I'm not mistaken Black Jacks use the PIA size so BJ 240 is 240sqft. So it will be over one size smaller than OSP 245.

surprised to read that, the OSP 285 (PIA 305) does definitely not seem to pack smaller as/than the BJ280 as those numbers would indicate, but this is just a feeling right now, i havnt packed em in the same container yet

Yep. And thats exactly what throws me off. I would expect a BJ 240 to pack smaller than an OSP 245 because the OSP 245 is actually PIA 260. Are the PAC valves that much different (volume wise) than MVDs?

the BJ has way more ZP but not to the extent that this could justify those numbers... (if ZP is increasing the volume at all?) and again, "feelingwise" the BJ feels more likely smaller, maybe similar, but for sure not bigger...
