Radio tower alarms
Went to a tower today and had a couple concerns.

1.) This sign, is it BS or actually legit? I assume its just to scare people off, but I want to double check (Look at the attachment called sign)

2.) I went to a tower before this, and found what looks to be the same device. We just ignored it, but could it actually be a motion sensor? Its about 10 feet off the ground. Look at the attachment motion sensor.

Thanks for the help I really, really appreciate it Smile

Re: [rodsnight] Radio tower alarms
I doubt the sign is real. Maybe, but do you really think there is someone there just watching the video all day long? If anything, its going to be a cctv, where they only watch it if something turns up broken, or an incident occurs on premise. As for the "Motion" sensor.. I also doubt its a motion sensor. Cant be certain, but there is a giant wire going into it, which would leave me to believe its something more to do with the transmission or power to the tower. There are a lot of things on towers that make us paranoid, but unless there has been incidents there before, or its operated by the military or government agency, id say you're alright. You can always climb up there and take a closer look. Maybe get a model number off the unit. That way you will be certain.

I see your point, It actually doesnt make sense that they put it there because its actually on the opposite side of the ladder. I doubt its one Thanks

Re: [rodsnight] Radio tower alarms
Theres only been one tower where I found a motion sensor that did anything regarding busting someone or turning on alarms.. And it was coast guard. Most of the time if there is a motion detector, its to turn on a light for the crews.

Also keep in mind that if there is an A that has genuine security on it then there is almost certainly a local BASE crew that knows about it... and if you're super worried about getting caught then asking them may be a better bet than climbing it and finding out for yourselfTongue

Looks maybe like an old photo eye for turning the light on at night. See Attached example.

Re: [minniest_one] Radio tower alarms
down in florida by Zephyrhills there is a little flattop south of the dz that used to get hit really hard really often.
they installed sensors that look exactly like the ones you pictured. all I can tell you is they respond very fast when those sensors are tripped. I no longer jump there and personally know 3 people that were busted jumping it, after the sensors were installed.

I have personal experience with wifi enabled motion sensors that emailed the site manager directly.... Didn't see that one coming

I also have personal experience with the motion sensors/camera at a local tower. It sent a picture to the site manager, and 30 minutes later, the calvary showed up.
This was a site I had jumped many many times unnoticed for almost 7 years. Apparently, the week before, their facility was trashed by copper thieves so they upped their security. At least thats what the property manager said.

So what happened after the fact. You get busted or did they smack your pee pee and let you go?

Re: [skup] Radio tower alarms
we had our GC run away. We jumped and flew away... it was nighttime and we landed far from the object.
they towed the car and we had my GF come pick us up.
they did press charges on my two friends (their IDs were in the car) although eventually i think there were no convictions. we paid like 1000$ each for the lawyer and court costs. (i was never charged cause they didnt find my ID, but i helped foot the bill wth my jump buddy, and so that the GC who was charged didnt have to pay anything)

I dont go to that tower anymore. which sucks, cause we had the elevator running for like 7 or 8 years at the time
