I'm about 150-155 geared up on a 225, so .63-.64. I've got just under 100 jumps on that that canopy.

Just curious how they fly in higher wing loadings like .70-.75 range.
The ideal wingloading based on atair manual is below .70. Something like .65 range.

I've jumped my roommates a bit loaded at .77 and it works great

I weigh 155. all together probably closer to 175 . I jump a 205. Great in winds, great flare, and great performance. I would not load any base canopy more than .6 until you feel like you are ready to almost double your reaction time, an are prepared for much quicker flights , and faster/more aggressive landings.
just my .02$

Re: [e.a.hernandez] How are you loading your OSP?

185 naked jumper weight
30 rig, boots, clothes, helmet
215 total approximate exit weight

I jump an OSP 285 which = 301
215 / 301 = .71+ wing loading

I used it at the quarry and you
may recall I flew the furthest.

Still wondering how I'm going to do a terminal jump with it

There is a thing called a slider. Some people say they work great on terminal jumps.

I just put 3 terminal jumps on my OSP. Large mesh slider, rolled the outer cells outward as tight as I could, inverted the bottom of the center cell over just the rolled part of the outer cells (not whole packjob) and then rolled the top of the center cell down and stuffed it into the middle. I had nice openings and great heading.

1) Put the slider on.

2) Roll the nose.

3) Enjoy the great openings.

In reply to:
Already have read some other topics here about using the OSP for terminal jumps, but the users manual strongly adverts that it is not made for it.

That's from back when it was first introduced. Atair's recommendations have changed hugely since then after they started testing and using the OSP as a terminal canopy. Its terminal openings aren't just acceptable, they're excellent.

You don't have to take our word for it though - email Andrej or Stane from Atair about the best canopy to buy for all types of jumping including terminal tracking and wingsuiting and I guarantee you they will say the OSP. (Caveat - you should have the slow slider with two strips of tape across the mesh.)

Heck, if you want they even sell the OSP Lite with Vectran lines for slider up jumps only. That should tell you something...

Re: [clandestino] How are you loading your OSP?
hi!

got a OSP 265, and im loading it at 0.71.

i have now about 150 jumps on it, about 80 slider down and 70 slider up.
regarding the slider up jumps, ive done everything from 4sec to full terminal slick, including wingsuit and tracksuit.

for me the openings feel just a very slight tick harder than on my regular trolls. for slick terminal i do roll the 3 cells on the left and right about 4 times and then put the center cell around the rolled part.
for tracksuit and wingsuit, i only s-fold those cells, but put the centercell only around the s-folded part, for subterminal slider up, i do the same as slider down and pull the center cell around the whole top of the packjob.
i use the regular big mesh slider, and this just works fine for me.

if you already have a number of terminal jumps on other canopies, and they didnt give you hard openings, the OSP will also not do that.

in my experience hard openings on terminal jumps is something that mostly troubles unexperienced jumpers. so if you just started, maybe give it a few more rolls and if you do a lot of slick terminal tracking in the beginning or have problems flaring out your tracks, go for the slow slider.

take good care of reefing it properly. My first terminal jump ever was with my OSP and large mesh slider. I didnt reef it properly, and though i thought that i had rolled the nose tight enough and buried it, my ground crew said that they thought they heard a slider down opening. and thats exactly what it felt like, my back was FUCKED for 2 days.

I now jump the slow slider for terminal, taking great care to roll the nose cells as tight as possible, bury the center as far down as possible, and i use two rubber bands to take a nice bite on each side of the slider. Opens beautifully, flies great.

I have a Trango2 and didnt like the openings, a slow slider solved all my problems. Best money invested in gear ever.
