Bridle pockets
OK, disclaimer first: I am ignorant and stupid and haven't thought this through.

Anyway, I was thinking about pilot chute malfunctions and the various things that can go wrong even if you do it right, and I was wondering if anyone had thought about using multiple bridle pockets (like on a skydiving reserve bridle) to make it more malfunction proof.

Any thoughts?

Re: [kerblammo] Bridle pockets
I've seen several different bridle staging pockets built into rigs over the years.

There are a lot of variations, but they basically all involve a secondary pocket to hold the bridle separate from the PC. I've seen the secondary pocket placed inside the BOC, places inside the pin cover flap, placed separately beside the BOC, and placed separately on the bottom or side flap of the rig.

I can't say that I've seen one that was a definite improvement, and there were some worries of hesitations with a couple of them.

Seems like an interesting project if you want to take it on.

Re: [TomAiello] Bridle pockets
I meant a pocket to catch air on the bridle, not to store the bridle. Like this:

Re: [kerblammo] Bridle pockets
Oh. Ok.

I've seen those too. I'm not sure they are worth it, though, because during a hesitation they can catch air and pull the bridle above the (hesitating) PC, increasing the chance of a PC/bridle entanglement.

If you search the old threads in here there was a long discussion about them quite a while ago, with some photos of bridles people had built.
