"The only restrictions the Idaho Transportation Department has put on the recreational activities for some peoples interest, ITD did post signs on both bridges, that attaching to the bridges was prohibited,” said Nathan Jerke with the Idaho Transportation Department.

Attachments to the bridge can include a platform, bungee cords and even signs and ribbons on the light posts.

Ethics? Are you refering to site naming? There is a news article about it, i think the cat is out of the bag, meow. However, if this is accurate than people have been violating certain restrictions threatening access to the sites.

It is written black on white. You are just not allowed to static-line it.

That guy from the transport department sounds like Jerke.

I think the platforms are what they don't really want on the bridge. They block the sidewalk and interfere with pedestrian traffic, especially bicyclists. If someone trips and falls (highly unlikely, but still a possibility), it would be a bad day for the city and BASE at the bridge. And if you do use one it should be taken down directly after the jump, TandemBASE, cough, cough.

Fuck .. If people have to Tie-off and Static the Hanson Br. Then they should Not be jumping it . People should stick to flopping off Twin Falls and get other objects under their belt for experience before jumping Hanson .
It is a little lower and Narrower . a little more technical than the Big cushy Twin bridge, and it actually takes some basic BASE game plan to jump .

It is a Good jump , And I will never forget that jump either . when climbing out of there @ Hanson in summertime, all hot and sweaty . I got a Real BadAss case of Poisson Oak, I was fucking miserable for a week or more after I got out of there .

Static lines, too. The attachments rule is important enough to the Department of Transportation that they spent literally thousands (because the damn things are so expensive) of dollars on signs at all 4 entrances to the bridge sidewalk to post it.

There are lots of ways to work within their rules and still jump.

For example, if you put a platform out for a jump, you just have to have someone who doesn't jump, so they can take it off at the end of the load.

And it's easy to bring something else out onto the bridge (a step stool for example) to static line from. You just stand on the stool and rig the static line to it instead of to the bridge. The concern with static lines is damage to the hand railing (if you check there are tons of loose uprights in there) or the bridge structure.
