I'm going skydiving in Spain from the UK soon and need to take 2 rigs with me...
Obviously one will have to go in the hold luggage and I wondered if anyone knew of any insurers who would cover anywhere near the value of a rig when in hold luggage?
Not sure about international policies, but in the States you can usually bring one larger bag for overhead storage and one smaller bag for under the seat in front of you. A rig on its own can fit under the seat and put any extra stuff you carry on in the stashbag going overhead. That's what I do.
Put it on your household contents insurance as a high value item. Additional premium would be payable.
Alternatively, there are specialists that insure such things as hang gliders and paragliders, and as I understand it, parachute rigs as well. Try giving Harrison Beaumont a call.
When I booked my travel insurance for KL my policy had the option of adding an additional high value item(s). I paid an extra $75 for my rig. Try shopping around for a provider who provides this option?
