Why BASE?
Hi, today is a black day ,
for the first time since a joined the "BASE" family a friend I knew died for a strike against a rock.

Well I should be prepared to this as we all know that it can happen, and I thought I was since when I heard comments like: doing BASE is silly because jumpers are just looking for the death.
I wished to reply that I never felt so much alive since when I joined this activity and I never found so many special persons that with very few exceptions , are amazing and full of life, but I didn't since I knew that it would have been just a waste of time .

Once I read somewhere that the special link that bound jumpers is that when we are at the exit point there're no differences: black, white, rich, poor, men , women ; nothing matter anymore because in that precise moment we all feel that we're human being and we respect each other deeply, there're no differences anymore ...
It is true , I feel it every time ... And I like it because is natural and honest not built up for reasons as normally happens in daily "real" life.

Sorry guys if I shared with you this thought , I am not expecting any special caring or comprehension or else .. Just wanted to share a feeling that I know will be understood .

C U at the exit point ..

Sorry for your loss! But you will get used to it, the longer you stay in the sport... People around you will die in a frequency much higher than in other other occupation there is in this world.
There are two options you have if you keep jumping in regards to the black side of base: choose your friends very carefully and only be tight to a few numbers of jumpers, you will not be confronted to death that much because you only know a few people, but if one of them goes in it will strike you harder, or, don't give a shit about anybody else and don't give a shit about it if one of them goes in.
sorry to tell you, these are the only 2 options I know of...

There is another option, Mikki:

Make friends freely, care about all, and when death come to one:

Cry for a while because they are gone.
Smile forever because they were here.

The cry-to-smile ratio will vary depending on how well you knew the person, but the song remain the same.
