According to a post on "The Other Bridge Day" FB page the attendance will be similar to BDs which took place in the 1980s.

The Other Bridge Day in TF has been cancelled in an effort to put forth better planning/prep for a 2016 event I am told, FYI.

An actual number wude be good to know. Clearly sounds like a big step back (as it shude be). Wuda been nice to see the numbers near zero. I'm not opposed to the event. A statement needed to be made and a position had to be held. We can only hope at this point...

The BD Commission released a number several weeks ago. My wife and I got a big laugh at how low it is (down 80% from normal). I think anyone on the BD Commission who voted for fingerprinting should resign immediately.

The BD commission {and almost everyone else associated with the event} has got this so wrong it's beyond insane Only in the BASE world would be it OK to travel across the country, give up our constitutional rights, subject ourselves to tyranny and abuse, AND PAY FOR IT! When it finally gets to the point of breaking most everyone's back, they finally decide it's enough and some Assclown steps in, circumnavigates the whole process of making a true change and expects it to be business (Tryanny?) as usual and he thinks we shude be thanking him for "Saving" BD. Get a Fuckin clue Jerkoff! BD is probably gonna be a very low attendance event. I personally wude have loved to have seen it be a complete no show. It only had to happen once.........

Im confused by this, all the good work you did by standing up to the commission then for reasons I don't understand you came back and put your support behind Tree, and now you are laughing about the low numbers? Why did you get back involved if you think like that?

The BD Commission and Tree are two separate entities. I'll always support BASE jumpers and help Tree, as needed. However, I do NOT support the BD Commission, especially after they threw some media jabs at me recently and are now lying about how strong registrations are. From what I can see, the BD Commission (aka Chamber of Commerce) is the one really running the show this year. Remember, Tree is just an advisor.

There is a lot more to the story and I've been asked to keep some details to myself. Hopefully Tree will be the one to share further information.

The head of the BDC also runs the Chamber. I often consider them the same misguided entity. If you'd like to get into a detailed discussion of the differences and responsibilities of each, then we can do that.

Nope. I was just saying that the Chair person of the BDC is also the President of the Chamber. The Chambers primary role is about commerce in Fayette County. The WV Dept of Highways, who is not a member of the Chamber, is also on the BDC and I don't consider the Dept of Highways to be labeled as the BDC. No ill will here Jason. I'm very familiar with Chambers from several counties in a few different states and they all are pretty much run with one goal in common, commerce.

Even if 50 jumpers show up, it's still enough to keep the locals entertained. So long as people are falling off of it, then that's all that is needed to keep the spectators happy. 50 versus 400. It's the same to them.

This makes me sad. We had the chance to fuck someone in the ass and instead we settled for giving them a hand job and even used our own spit for lube.

Only traitors are going to BD2015.

I'm not sure I wude quite go that far but, it is encouraging to see a cohesiveness among the community . Some will go and simply not know what is REALLY happening there. Agreed as far as a major lost opportunity. Let's make sure and thank Tree for doing so.......

Any idea how many of the 42 are first-time jumpers enrolled in the "FJC?"

Hopefully they have the required FIFTY skydives and all of the prerequisite canopy experience!

I think it is safe to assume that 30%, or more, will only jump once; based on previous years. If the 42 registered jumpers is accurate; that means that huge time gaps will exist between jumps. Furthermore, I would also bet that the last 2 hours will have close to zero jumps. (Excluding maybe a few staff jumps) I could see the possibility of up to an hour without a single jumper making the plunge.

I along with many others, have always appreciated the hard work and dedication you have thrown at this event. Why you are supporting tree here is extremely hard to understand. Perhaps, its just that you are a terrific person and a great guy. Perhaps there's another reason. It's never really been made clear. Why an "advisor" was needed here again, certainly comes in to question. What, you couldn't have done this? Tree was the only 1 available? I (and many other's) just don't get this. And since a clear REAL reason seems be evasive, we are simply left to come to our own conclusions based on what is actually happening. dividing the community with these (what appear to be) backroom type "deals" is not helping. At all. Eluding to other "reasons" for these actions and then being secretive about it is, IMO, going in the wrong direction. Again. Enough. You've worked long and hard to build a fantastic reputation as a stand up guy. That can be destroyed quickly if you hitch your horse to the wrong post here. Please don't take this as a jab to you. If anybody (me included) were to go back and forth like this, it would come in to question. Let this dead fish fall on his face and then and only then. can a new, more positive direction for BD be gotten.

It's a heck of a lot easier to explain the situation in person versus typing it here.

In a nutshell, I quit organizing BD because of the fingerprinting. I stood my ground and fought the BD Commission. Tree and Marcus Ellison swooped in and made a secret deal with the BD Commission without ever contacting me. I was pretty upset at first. After being angry for a few months, it wears you down. The event was going to happen regardless. I've known Tree for a long time, and I just got tired of being mad. I decided the best thing I could do was share my 13 years of organizing experience with him. This is the REAL reason why I stopped being angry. However, I have not changed my disappointment with the BD Commission.

Now, I have a feeling that there is trouble in paradise with Tree and the BD Commission. I've heard a few things here and there, but it would be improper for me to spread rumors. That is why I was hoping Tree would give everyone an update.

I've been BASE jumping since 1993. My best days are behind me. Those who've worked with me or attended Bridge Day know the kind of guy I am. I don't take any shit, but I get the job done well. During my 13 years of organizing BD, I made sure to keep things fair and honest. I've always been open and honest with everyone, including maintaining an active online presence here on this forum (which isn't the case for many organizers and manufacturers). However, I'm not the organizer anymore......and my reputation isn't going to change negatively based on anything that happens at BD 2015 or beyond.

Everyone knows the story and Nobody is questioning your integrity. We all do dumb things (me, more than most) and though we may have folks not like those decisions, they don't hate the person. That's a separate issue IMO. I don't hate Tree and nobody should, Hell, he's 1 of us. However, I don't support his decision in this matter at all and I won't lend any support to what I deem a bad call. I fail to see how you doing that is helping achieve what you worked so hard to try and get. Again, just an opinion.....

BTW, I sure hope my best days are still in front of me....

 I just want to note that most of you sticking together on this is appreciated. I 100% understand how many of you feel that have done this event for years. This has to suck.

As I stated in my only post when I signed on a couple months ago, I really have no dog in the fight. I don't jump or know any of you. I still really enjoyed Bridge Day but I despise officials leading us to a police state.

My son is now living in Bluefield and I figured I had a great place to stay this year but I won't be going. My friends that I know go wont be going. I love the state but I hate what certain officials have done to you all.

We need more of this. Thanks for the support and understanding what is REALLY happening here. Through unity and a cohesive decision, the desired results can be achieved.

My records list an average of 400 registered jumpers at the same time period (late July) over the last 13 years.

what the hell is bridge day 2015? sounds like some type of old historical event that can be reflected upon with emotions of joy, hapiness, friendship, etc.......

I think they often claim to have 100 k spectators - they won't miss 350 base-jumpers. However, if they start to lose significant numbers of spectators in future because of a lack of jumpers, then it could have an effect.

From talking to people most aren't aware of the issue yet. Most aren't those who attend the event either. Those who are of the type to attend the event are becoming more aware.
