Lifespan Canopy
Hi, search function didn't really help, so gonna post here: what's the average lifespan of a base canopy and dacron lines, how many jumps? In this particular case I'm interested in a used Troll MDV.

Re: [Absolut] Lifespan Canopy
I have a blackjack with about 750 jumps getting a new line set soon still on original. should be good for another few hundred jumps if that helps.

Re: [Absolut] Lifespan Canopy
It really depends on how the canopy has been treated. Patches, water landings, Moab trips all make a difference. I'd say given average jumping, most regular weight canopies should be good for at least 500 jumps of not many more, lightweight 400+, but much less if jumped in shitty conditions. In my opinion, zp nose also adds at least 100 jumps of lifespan to a given canopy. Jumping a canopy for any significan time in Australia takes a minimum of 200 jumps off a canopy.

I also have a seven that has more than 600 jumps and it's my favorite canopy with no plans on retiring it any time soon. It had a small accident a couple years ago and got a brand new center cell though.

I had a Troll MDV which I bought as new and put maybe 800-900 jumps on it. I relined it once and still at 800-900 jumps it opened nicely and the glide was ok (probably less than a brand new ones) but you could really start to feel that the canopy was not flaring anymore properly. So based on that I would say that on optimal use (no Arizona / Moab style stuff, always packed indoors, not left to sunlight etc) a TrollMDV could serve you as long as up to 1000jumps. But any harder (than optimal) use will shorten the lifespan of it so maybe 800 could be a fair average lifespan.
