Snatch PC hesitations
Anyone else had issues with hesi's on a Snatch pc? I have a 42" ring vented Snatch and the thing hesitates probably half the time. Gets to full bridle stetch, flaps around for a bit, then inflates.

Had the worst one of all yesterday and I've gone from being cautious about it to not trusting the thing at all. Had I pitched half a second later it could have ended badly (low pull, water landing).

I've noticed the ring vented 42" is no longer available on the website, does anyone know the reasoning for taking it off the range? Were there other issues? Not sure how the extra venting could cause hesitations though...

I just want to know whether its just mine or whether it was/is a common problem with the ring vented pcs.

Re: Snatch PC ring vent
I have a "42" Snatch with 2 vents:
the common apex + their ring vent.

I have only used it slider UP from
tall towers and would never use it
for a low, go & throw kind of jump.

However, it has been working well
for me as my terminal pilot chute.

Please Note: I am oldish + bigger
so my canopies tend to be heavier.

Re: [underseaash] Snatch PC hesitations
I have a 42" with the ring vent. I haven't had any hesitations that i'm aware of in probably 40ish jumps. I almost always take 2-4 seconds when I use a 42".

Common sense tells me that the more vents there are the longer it will take to inflate but to be honest i can't tell the difference between this and my other pcs.

Do you have video of this? I have a 38" I use for terminal and enjoy the occasional low pull. I'm wondering if it's a low-airspeed thing? I wouldn't think the snatch would be any more helpful than a toxic at the airspeeds most people use a 42" for.

I have seen my buddy take a delay and drag his PC for some time. I also have another friend who has seen it many times. I do not own one personally so this is just what Ive seen personally on other peoples jumps, and whats been told to me by trustworthy friends, but the hesitation factor is kinda whats going around as word on the streets. Shouldn't be a problem with higher speeds. IMO I personally would only use it for tracking and wingsuit where it doesn't really matter too much.

What type of delay? Sub 2 seconds you probably want the version without the ring. Contact Mike or Matt via email and talk to them about what delay and what issue you are having. I'm willing to bet they'll help you out.

I jump a 305 Troll and a 305 OSP.

So far I've done about 10 stowed SD jumps and although it was hard to tell SD, I felt as if it was hesitating a little on some jumps which stopped me using it from heights I would usually be comfortable using a standard 42 (leaving some room for error).

The last hesi was on a 6 second delay with my OSP. More noticeable given the airspeed and low pull so its the first time I was 100% it was hesitating momentarily. Its only short and once it grabs air it does a excellent job, its just the unknown surrounding how long it may potentially hesitate for that worries me.

Contacted Matt and he got back to me straight away and is eager to get to the bottom of it and provide a suitable replacement.

I use the 42nr for just about all SD jumps above 300 ft. No problems. Don't have the ring vent, but they were pretty clear that it should be for longer SD delays. Good luck, hope you figure it all out.

did Matt say why they took it out of production?

Same for me and a friend. 80+ jumps with 42nr between the two of us, haven't seen a hesitation.

Re: Snatch PC hesitations
Are any of the witnessed hesitations a result of the "sidewall" panels folding underneath, and interfering with the full inflation of the top panels? I thought I saw a video link of some snatches hesitating but I can't find it now.

Your brain working faster than your equipment ? happens with growing skills related to inflation and opening mechanics involved in BASE .
maybe the noticed hesitation is just you getting faster awareness of all, giving illusion of slower mechanics including the PC inflation ?

Re: [RayLosli] Snatch PC ring vent
That makes sense, but I personally have NOT had any
hesitations with the Snatch. I own three of them and
have free fallen 320 feet with their 42" and 46".

The double vented 42" (ring + apex) is smaller than
my Morpheus 38" hence I only use it for high speed
slider-up deployments (8 to 12 seconds slick).

ha ha my quote should have been in green Tongue

Yeah, I said that, what I have come to think

is their PCs run small like Atair wings run big.
