Exit tips
I have a tendency to go out head high.
Anyone have any tips for exits?

Re: [jcbase2014] Exit tips
Where are you looking when you exit now? When I first started I was always too head high... I started staring right at the ground after exit and it helped flatten me out more belly to earth (used to look at or above the horizon). Way better ground rush this way too. Also, easy to go head low too so keep that in mind. The body follows the head!

Get a crash mat and something 4-5 feet tall to jump of. Practice leaning out and pushing forwardDo this 300 times (meaning a lot), then repeat the next day. It will fix it.

Edit to add: swimming pool also does the trick

Pools are also good for practicing running exits. Just make sure the lifeguards aren't watching. Or any potential suitors you're trying impress for that matter.

What kind of Exit are we even talking about and object that is giving difficulties in your head-high body position to your pull ? We just talking about go & throws slider down ?

You need to just gain repetition and variety . There are so many different body positions that a jumper is forced into and are affected by with different type objects and there exits . Limits on how you bend, squat, Squat-launch, one-step, full-1/2 step. or run off objects, etc . or the object itself can be tight right against your back on your exit launch .
Only cure is to do the exit & Jump it more .Examine what faults of body position you take from your technique applied . Not happy ? Then go back and Jump it again because Repetition and jumps are the only real ' cure ' to getting it right with your launch into correct body position with different exits your launching off .

Without getting some feedback on you might/will risk of practicing poor technique. Maybe video etc

Re: [RayLosli] Exit tips
Agreed, but if your exits are really bad you should work rid yourself of the worst tendencies in a much safer environment first. A pool/crash mat/foam pit/pendulator is perfect for this. It also gives you the opportunity to get loads of repetition in and create some muscle memory. For a lot of people all it comes down to is getting familiar with the feeling of stepping of in a forward leaning position bringing your body belly-to-earth. Then you take it to the cliff. Had the same struggle my self early in my career, two late nights on a crash pad fixed it :)

Be aware that crash pads, foam pits, and pools can develope bad habits. You should video your practice sessions and have an experienced BASE jumper to evaluate you.

' small problems ' like head-high or Low, etc. can be just the beginner not relaxing and grossly over thinking the body launch . A lot of that will just pass with time and jump repetition .
Everybody starting has the problems they need to iron-out . They pop up and you need to notice or someone has to point them out . It's good that the jumper ( jcbase2014 ) takes serious notice and control to get it worked out and refined to becoming a solid jumper. Seeing and fixing Problems in your jumping, just make you a better jumper in the long run .

I remember back on the local cliff here when 1st started BASE . I recognized that I had a pretty constant off-heading opening that was 'patterning' on majority jump on that cliff, of 20 to 30 Deg. to Left . It was something that I had to work on and get a handle on, Searching exactly what I was doing with my body position on & after the PC Pitch to attribute to the High number of Positive Left opening direction of canopy .
With my slider-Down's . I had real good Headings on all my standing & stepping Exit launches . But on my running exit on this particular object, I had to work and it was not as easy coming as the others .

+1. New jumpers are going to fuck up exits (I know I did). Good for the OP having the balls to ask for advice. Also agree that with more jumps things do get better. On the plus side- fucked up exits give new jumpers plenty of opportunity for quick corrections on off headings!

If youre not rotating in the air once or twice youre doing it wrong. It really clears the burble and you never get hesitations :)

You talking about if . ?? . Turning body right-turn on Exit on that would suck big donkey balls . the Buttress jutting-up down the lower right side of cliff ? . ..LOL
Also if you smoke it deep and then bust a hard Right turn opening you better be on it. . LOL . or you will be on it .
.
I think back now having more experience and That Cliff is nowhere near HalfAssed beginners 'learning' slider-down jump experience . Not a center exit, really Not overhung, all jagged shale snag factor, buttress on right side . But it beautiful scenic and local .
