Travel insurance
I'm looking to purchase travel insurance to go to Italy and Switzerland. I found one that offers a hazardous activities buy up for an additional 20% on Travelinsure.com, underwritten by WorldMed Insurance. Anyone have any exp with this insurance co, or recommend another?

Here is an explanation of the hazardous activities coverage. http://www.travelinsure.com/..._ups/imed-hazard.htm

Thanks so much for your help. I would have never thought of using Google to dig up old threads on the topic. Crazy

The insurance companies that are willing to cover BASE jumpers is constantly changing as companies drop BASE because they find out that it is not cost effective. Bringing up this topic on a regular basis is beneficial to many. The company's website that I posted lists BASE as one of the things it covers under hazardous activities, but I wanted to make a post on here to see if there was better insurance available for my benefit, the benefit of others who frequent this forum and the benefit of whatever hospital provides medical care if I or someone else is injured.

If you're in the US, as per your profile, http://www.worldnomads.com/ looks ideal. They specifically say they cover BASE in the Explorer policy and it's super cheap. You're lucky. Grab it while you can.

Thanks, someone else pmed the same suggestion to me. I called the company that I listed in my op to be sure they cover BASE, and the answer was vague. World Nomads has a little higher premium, but they seem more legit.

Did the one that covered your cliff strike / heli rescue a few years back say no more afterwards?

There were six claims that I know of that season using HHC, so yea I was a part of it. I've made a lot of bad judgement calls, but I am trying to be a lot safer these days. If I get injured in spite of being more prepared and conservative, I don't want to stick a hospital with dept or start a charity account online.

So far trees have hurt me a lot less than the ground. Tongue

Fair enough, but I am still not choosing the trees over landing on the ground, I don't care how much nicer they are to you. Wink
