Re: [TomAiello] Looking to buy a New Canopy: What is the best Slider Down Canopy at the moment?

I wouldn't say I don't recommend it--just that I'd prefer the OSP, which has faster/cleaner slider down pressurization.
The Outlaw has a good bit of sink at opening, which is the trade off for having basically zero forward speed. So it is probably the easiest canopy of all time to avoid an object strike with (huge plus for slider down solid objects) but you don't want to do super low cutting edge stuff with it because it loses more altitude immediately after opening (because it's not moving forward).
That's interesting! I usually don't prefer to freefall anything much under 250 (as low as I will take a delay), but I really enjoy the world that opens up when you static line <150'. So, with that said and considering what you just said, an outlaw would be phenomenal for all the free-fall jumps I'd usually do, but my flik would be better for a nice flare/landing on the low (especially sub 130') static lines?
That makes sense from what I've heard...I just can't wait to get some actual test jumps on an outlaw.
edit: Have you done any testing on the forward speed of the outlaw in shallow brakes with typical slider-down line configuration? I've been considering doing more shallow brake static lines with flare on rears once I get much lower on static lines, but I wonder how much/if it loses more altitude between inflation and flight and how the outlaw would compare.
