Job concerns v BASE
I'm sure I'll take some shit for this, but to everyone that has a job that's more than a little sensitive to being arrested, what do you do to reduce that risk?

Not gonna lie, I've got shit all for experience mostly due to having to work away from any kind of object for about half the year. Next month I'm moving to a new city and getting a more normal job. So I could jump a little more regularly, but getting arrested would pretty much end my newfound employment.

All my jumps have been fairly low key, I'm not one to go out to higher profile objects and prefer to drive out to isolated objects to ensure no police/farmer involvement. But I'm not sure that will be as possible in Southern California.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: [curiousidiot] Job concerns v BASE
Do all employers have access to criminal records in U.S.? I've been busted a few times in UK, all job applications ask if you have a record, I just say no to that question and it's never been a problem. Same as when entering US, I just say no. I guess so long as your not on interpol most wanted list, they have no way of checking.

RE: disclosing prior arrests on the application

Some employers will automatically terminate
for any errors or omission on the application.

Hence if I did have a misdemeanor trespass
for parachuting and the job paid $75,000 or
more then I would find the nicest HR person
or whoever is key to hire me and try to get
a one-on-one situation to disclose what is
usually a harmless and laughable charge.

RE: Getting Arrested

When I first visited Twin Falls in 2006 and
got to talk to real live BASE jumpers I was
very curious about arrests and injuries, till
this day I ask about both when vetting new
jumpers or visiting jumpers.

Most people I have talked to or jumped with
have had zero arrests. I personally have had
to talk to the cops once and in the end due to
being polite and no one having any warrants,
they just told 12 of us to "Get Outta Here!!".

Do enough urban jumps and that will change.
While I have not be arrested or even put in the back of a van, I have been stopped by the police on 10 or more occasions.
One copper actually asked me if I was allowed to do it.

I guess it depends where you work, most large organisations will do a probity check

If we get a hit on a police check we suss out a bit more about the offence and we have an option to waive it (Banking Industry)

In Oz certain convictions become spent generally after 10 years, so if they fall into this category you dont need to declare them

What was your reply to the question of whether you were allowed to do it?
