Openings Vs temperature
Hello guys
Do you have experiences of slow opening due to environmental temperature ?
What I mean is , in my last jump I had the impression , but it can be false due to the fact that was a night jump that the opening of my canopy was a little slower than normally..
Generally , looking at some statistics , with. 48", and having a pull within the second the opening should happen in 40 meters , ( of course there are a lot of "depends") assuming this , do you experience differences depending by the local temperature? Summer/ winter?
Any idea about how longer or shorter can be the opening depending by it ?

Ciao and thanks for any hints...

cooler night air is more dense, your canopy should open slightly quicker. higher humidity makes for thicker.... scratch that, corrected to... LESS DENSE air. if you noticed a big difference in openings i would look at other factors that could have changed, body position, your throw, packing, possible air current, roaming packs of gnomes....

no, humid air is thinner than dry air at the same temperature.

i never noticed any change in opening distance depending on temperature, but for me its clearly noticable on landing.

i stand corrected.... but in the interest of internet arguments and drama on this forum, i should probably just make up some stuff about science and try to tell you your wrong. but i need coffee.

It sounds retarded using thick and thin to describe air. Hopefully your science argument uses density instead. You are wrong though, no amount of coffee will change that! :P

coffee wont change that i was wrong.... but it will make for better internet arguing and more convincing made up numbers and science things.
