Hello norcal jumpers and visitors to the area.

In the recent months, there has been an abnormally large influx of new jumpers/visiting jumpers passing through this area. It has now become commonplace to have double digit numbers of jumpers on loads in both the morning and evening. There have been recent chases, and other close calls. We are being noticed, and we need to let things cool down a bit.

This object has been one of the cornerstones of base since well before I was born, and we have gotten a little complacent on how easy it has been. Please observe the following rules at the request of locals so we can all enjoy this object for years to come.

Please wait until last light to jump. Sunset loads have become earlier and earlier over the years. 20 minutes past end of civil twilight is a good rule to follow.

Do not walk out and hand out in the middle. Rangers have been seen looking with binos, and hanging out in the middle of the bridge for 15 minutes before jump time is a great way to get caught.

Do not park at the top. Rangers and police alike have been checking and waiting at the top. Either hike, or get dropped off, but dont leave a car up top, even in the morning.

Order your canopies so slider up jumpers go first, with slider down going after. The quicker we can move a load off, the better.

Remember that rangers know what stash bags are. If you pull up and a ranger is sitting there, dont just start hiking. He will wait for you.

There has been an unspoken agreement between jumpers and law enforcement for the last 30+ years, and I worry that is starting to change. Please let this object cool for a while, be respectful, be sneaky, and remember that this is an illegal jump.

When do wingsuits go?

From a strategic point of view -- if I were one of the rangers -- it would be SO easy to catch jumpers on almost any given day at sunrise/sunset because the time window is so constrained.

If you wait for a nearly full moon, you can jump any time of night. It would take much more effort for a ranger to camp out all night waiting for you to jump at 11:37pm, as opposed to driving by at sunset and watching for 10 minutes.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Youd think that, but tends not to be the case. Until recently, it was very tolerated, and actually more risk on a moon because they are more concerned with illegal overnight parking and more likely to investigate cars that are sitting there after hours.

I've never parked at the top and had people waiting when we've parked at the bottom. Too bad Uber or Lyft aren't in Auburn yet.

Well thanks to very few people heeding this warning, rangers now have been staking out the LZ and there have been multiple busts. Strong work fucking up one of the best objects in the country.

 Nice work people. Just because you've been in the area for 2 months -you are not a local. You fuck tards need to just obey guidelines that all of us have done that live in the area forever and we wouldn't have these problems. We all want to jump all the time ,too. But we do so on objects that are lower profile. No matter who you think you are, someone is always watching in the canyon. So when you say to your buddies "dude no ones out there right now" and its 3 p.m.. your wrong or just don't care and you should. Pull your heads out of your buddy's ass's and please start respecting local guidelines so we can all continue to have a good time. Guide lines are as basic as they get. Its hotter out there right now then I can remember, ever. Be smart.

Thank you Mr h for posting, being a 20+ year local resident, I drive by our sexy biach frequently and sigh due to the arson being done to her. It isn't that tough to just back off for the time being. All of us must respect each others treasures, lest they'll all be burned.

Respect for other people's objects disappeared right around the same time as mentors.

 
But doctor... you have to realize... the footage is just SO much better when shot in daylight. Also, people have jobs and jumping at night sacrifices their sleep. /sarcasm

Sorry you are paying the price for other peoples ignorance. Remember that physical violence is not the answer (but it might give you some relief).

Other things to know and consider in this situation. One of the jumpers who got busted had ground crew waiting out in the parkinglot, so dont think youre safe because your chick is waiting in the car.

I have lived in the area for the last 9 years and can count on one hand the amount of jumpers who have asked for advice when coming through town. Someone who has being doing tandems at a nearby dz for 3 months and "totally jumps there all the time" is not a local.

This is an object that Marty has been working on for over a decade to get legal events, and having heli chases and busts definitely does not help matters.

There is now barbed wire and axel grease on both entrances. The local authorities are discussing making access much more difficult if this doesnt work. they are more worried about high school kids than us, so if everyone just lays low for a while, I think things could be decent again. If they see a bunch of greasy footprints and cut wire, im sure it will get much worse.
