Sub terminal, pin protector open or closed?
I did my first sub terminal in ages the other day, and it just made me curious - what do you guys prefer for the 5-7 second delays?

Open or closed?

Any thoughts on pro/cons, or good stories to share? Smile

Edit: probably belongs in the technical forum, but whatever ;)

What exit did you jump? Månen?
I just bought an extra base rig for jumping low shit. Going to scotland this week, but will take a couple days of work next week if the weather is goodWink
So i'm ready for new adventures, high or low!

definutly closed for 5-7 sec delays the flap will not effect opening at those speeds.
I close mine for all delays and never had a problem

Depends on body position at opening but I would likely go flap closed at that delay if belly to earth.

I don't jump with it close on short delays, aerials, or go & throws anymore. A combination of further pin research shared on here, noticeable differences on certain jumps, also no need for pin protection unless on stealthy urban jumps over here.

I always close mine. In theory, if you choose the correct PC and take the appropriate delay for such PC choice, it shouldn't make a difference. And 5-7 is not a low jump, so I'd recommend some bridle/pin management for sure.

I close it for all slider up jumps.

I open it for most slider down jumps less than 1 second (where I'm usually handheld).

I either open or close it on 1-4 second delays depending on other circumstances, like how hard it is to climb onto the exit point and if there's any snag potential--like wiggling through an antenna structure.

The most important reason to open the flap is a deployment in a body position that is not flat, stable and belly to earth. I'm hopeful that I won't get into that position on a 5+ second delay very often.

On my asylum rig I leave mine closed for everything except static lines where I exit almost standing up.

On my apex rig I open the whole flap for static lines. For 1 second and sketch $h!t I open the top tuck tab because I feel there pin protector flaps are a bit over-kill and too stiff.
