Handling money in Europe
I'm in the early stages of planning a euro trip and was wondering how you guys handle your money over there. A green dot card (or similar), cash only? Your regular old debit/credit card?

Debit cards are taken almost everywhere and the exchange rate is better when you use a debit card. I carry some cash but mainly rely on the card.

Pretty much everywhere in Europe takes electronic. 2 exceptions are the bar at Brento and Airtime in LB and maybe a few other small shops in mountain villages, but even then you're never far from a cashpoint.

In most of Switzerland you'll even get a choice between the card machine taking money in francs or dollars/pounds/whatever. The exchange rate they offer is usually pretty good and you can see exactly what you're spending (if you want toTongue) without guesswork.

Do research on the fees for debit cards (percentage taken of total transaction amount and other sneaky as fuck fees) and always carry the local currency. When you're starving after a jump and no one in the remote spot takes cash and all you want is a baguette, you will regret it Wink
