BaseR rig has the option.

I remember hearing about those, is that an add to system, or a rig with a base rig with a reserve like the sorcerer? They are looking for something that is add to.

It's a removable chest mount, but the harness would have to be TSO's as well. So the rigs would have to be Base'ers from jump shack as well.

They probable wouldn't be that smart. But any vid would be enough to get you in trouble. You would really have to use them all the time.

i carry a reserve pack card on me when i do balloon jumps. the one time it was needed i....well it wasn't really needed because the cop had no idea what he was looking at. if they are going to carry a rig and not care if you use it, why not bring out a skydive rig? otherwise the only TSO'd (legal) "base" rig to jump out of a FAA aircraft is a baser. hooking a belly mount to a base rig is not within FAA guidelines aka the company making that base harness hasn't paid their 6 digit dues.

if a belly mount is what is going to satisfy the balloon pilots, go to a milsurp store...

i wonder if you could buy a giant fanny pack, stuff it with dirty undies, and tell a copper that its a belly mounted reserve. they dont know what the fuck theyre looking at/talking about anyway. the one incident our load had with a dickhead cop, the idiot started talking about FAA rules in "skydiving" that dont even exist, just because he wanted to argue and was heated up about people landing in the vicinity of traffic.

I'm just trying to keep the stoke alive with these balloon guys. Cops usually have no clue, I was arrested and cited with "engaging in dangerous activities" for jumping in a state park last summer! I went to court without a lawyer and against the state with a lawyer and the arresting officers, I won.

I think the best option would be that they require that you bring a sky rig and keep it in your vehicle. That way at least you've got legal setup in the area if there's any uncertainty.

Pretty sure I know who you're talking about. Hopefully we can keep that party going.

We will lose these operations if jumpers keep posting on facebook, Instagram, ect obvious BASE rigs while exiting or in this type of aircraft. I keep seeing posts with BASE gear. These pictures burn the whole deal.

We should voluntarily restrict the operations with BASE gear to early dawn. I think multiple jumps per day, when people are out and about will burn the operation country wide. We don't want to lose our best training for wingsuit BASE exits.

I don't think we should even have this post on this public forum. Let's delete the whole thing and try to keep things low pro.

There are a few BASE friendly balloon operations that I've heard of. If even one of them starts to get heat there will be precedent for all others to justify a change in policy.

Do your part to protect your balloon. You don't want to be the one careless operation that ruins it for the entire country.

I agree with keeping it only to early dawn, and ideally only from a slider-up altitude. Nothing more obvious than repeated slider-down loads over the course of an entire day.

Here's a silly idea. I know this is way out side the box and goes against all accepted standards, but... why not do it legally? The baser is actually TSO'ed. If you're serious about doing this, then do it. How big is this freaking balloon? How many people on a load? Buy a couple of rigs. Or buy one of those new mirages. Or any of the accuracy sized containers out there. There was one sitting there on the shelf in Dallas forever that just wouldn't sell because nobody wants a rig sized for a 280 sqft main. They are out there. Or just get an old school rig. People will just fucking give you a wonder hog sized for an old xl cloud. And you can free pack into a main tray just as easily as a base rig. We have done it forever in CRW and even base jumping with the sorcerer and converted skydiving rigs.

I don't see what the big deal is.
