OSP questions for those in the know.
.

I've got a warlock that fits a 260 Mayhem 3/7 vented in it pretty snugly. I'm looking to upsize as i have upsized my body weight, (rig still fits good though not keen on buying a new one)

1. Would a OSP 265 lightweight material or Troll 265 lightweight material ( normal lines) fit nicely into this rig?

2. Would it be a slightly easier fit/ softer pack job than my current Mayhem 260? (that is what i am hoping for)

3. Is the fine mesh slider an acceptable or good choice for the OSP - if you were to have only one slider? ( with a Troll I think I'd just go with large mesh)

4. I intend to do some terminal jumps as well but mostly Slider off - should i still go for the OSP or is a Troll a more sensible choice?

Thanks in advance - let the abuse begin.

Current Experience - 42 jumps - 32 Slider Up, 10 slider off. + Several thousand skydives, and lots of speedflying

The lightweight OSP should fit fine! I have an OSP lightweight fab 225 (240) and I packed a 260 in the same container no probs! For slider off jumps the OSP is the shit! Opens really fast, as far as sliders go I have the slow slider on mine and have used it for terminal and sub-terminal slider up jumps with no probs! Just know the lightweight fabric isn't as durable.

Re: [goinin] OSP questions for those in the know.
so far i have ONE 9 second delay with my slow slider, with double direct control stows, and the nose rolled.

it opened fast, but quite comfortably. before that i had done a 15 second delay, opening in a track with my regular large mesh slider, and holy fuck was that a bad day. my back was fucked for 24 hours.

for slider down, its the shit.

as far as sliders go, im pretty stoked on my slow slider, however i have NOT experimented in the subterminal environment. i think ill take it about 5 seconds off an A with a tailwind and see how it opens, i probably wont do any direct control and ill leave the nose cells unrolled and see if it snivels or opens nicely. i would like to only keep the slow slider on, but ill have to experiment with subterminal openings with it before i decide that.

get an OSP, they are the best all around canopies on the market. IMHO

Either would be fine.

I have packed an OSP 265 light into a 240 (standard weight) sized container with ease. I have a fair amount of packing experience, but still I expect that you'll find it easy to close.

I'd go with the large mesh slider (sub terminal) and the slow slider (terminal). You're looking at the most expensive canopy on the market, so adding another slider for $80 shouldn't be a big deal.

OSP. For sure. It's more of everything you'd want the Troll for (stable deep brake approaches, easy to sink for accuracy, stable in turbulence, excellent part brake flare).

If you want better glide (the OSP has slightly worse glide than the Troll) you're looking at the wrong canopy family altogether. For the same reason, you should get the OSP in the standard (not the "glide") trim.

Honestly, with the OSP as an alternative, I see no reason to buy a Troll at this point. The OSP is just better in every way that matters. Until the Squirrel slider down canopy (or some other slatted alternative) hits the market, there is no real competitor to the OSP for tight, technical landing areas and flight through turbulence.

For what it's worth, I have a OSP245 ultralight. The container I have it in is sized for a 220 (PIA) and it is pretty soft in there.

I've done some subterminal slider up jumps (up to 6 seconds) with a large mesh slider and the openings were perfectly fine. Can't comment on any longer delays though.

I just did 80 slider up jumps off the KL tower with a pair of OSP lights. One had a large mesh slider and the other a fine mesh. With 5-7 second delays I noticed no difference between the two slider types. I can't comment on terminal jumps.

It really is a great canopy, but I've heard some great things about the squirrel slider down canopy coming soon.

I hurt my hand packing, so I actually did hire a packer for one day. I was on track to do 80 myself though.
