Re: [madprops] where to go with 5 days off (learn aerials)

I have five days off at the end of October and I was going to go to twin falls to learn how to do aerials...... to be honest just a gainer. I was going to go and jump for two days and then get as many gainers in as possible in the following days.
I have a local E that I would really like to be able to throw gainers off of (I don't want to learn on a cliff). I have done about 500 gainers off a 5 meter board into a pool in the last 6 months and I feel like I'm ready to just do it. Any advice on the matter is welcome.
I am also open to other fun little base trips so if you have some time off around then and need a 2nd then drop me a PM, I'm willing to fly anywhere in the USA or Canada
Remember you are not going to get the spring off off a solid object like a spring board. Did you practice with a PC to get the pitch timing correct?
Bridge Day is coming up at the end of Oct. so that may be an option. People are constantly hucking gainers there before they are ready and with less training than you and most have survived.

A bonus for you is that there is a spring board at the exit although I think Jason has a jump prerequisite for it.
Going to a gymnastics club may help gain aerial awareness as well during your time off. It would be nice to see more people take aerials more seriously. Many people I see that do gainers, are not really athletically flipping or in control of their rotational speed and direction. They basically jump out almost lying on their back, head tilted back in an arching position and wait for gravity to take hold of the larger upper body mass. I think leads to inconsistent and slow rotation and early pitches(in relation to rotation) and possible pc/bridle entanglement. They will be looking for the ground and often as soon as they see it they reach back and pitch not allowing the legs to get around or the arm to clear.
Gainers are not that difficult when gravity helps. The real skill comes with controlling the axis and rotational speed for any number of flips you want and being aware enough to know when to come out and pitch at the appropriate time.
