Antenna questions
Hey guys,

Im new here and don't base jump (yet) but hope to start within the next year. Today my friend pointed out a massive antenna to me since he knows I want eventually base, and there is a large landing area and an easy access road to it. What I don't know, is anything about radiation, or what to look out for on an antenna. I know its not AM so I wont ground it by climbing it, but I don't want to end up eventually jumping it and frying myself. I did some research and found some info on the antenna, but don't know what most of it means... I attached a screenshot of the info (with locations and names removed of course) and was wondering if any of you guys know if ill get messed up jumping it. The antennas in cenral/norcal so if this is anyones spot and the recognize it by some of the specs in the screenshot send me a PM, since i don't want to intrude on anyones regular spot. Thanks!

Re: [DanielRjumps] Antenna questions
Cali has alot of jumpers to ask.

Leaving the id up is same as giving location...posting this gives up your object.(more then likley someone elses) Back to drawing board.

If you dont want to be intruder ask the locals

I assume you have no training in electronics/RF or you just didn't read the info on the picture you posted. It very clearly states that :

In reply to:
Class: D,A Noncommercial educational operating with no more than 10W

Your cellphone, that you probably have next to your head half the time you're awake, does about 2W. Its more risky to drive a car without a seatbelt then to climb that thing.

Re: [DanielRjumps] Antenna questions
Cool first post! I'm glad you don't live near me posting up antenna IDs.

Hopefully the guys up North appreciate this sort of thing more than I do.

*Edited to be more helpful: Talk to the sky jumpers at your local DZ. They'll already know more about this tower than you ever will using the interweb.

Re: [DanielRjumps] Antenna questions
Talk to locals. Sometimes towers that seem great when you look them up, are not so great when you try to jump them. There is a lot of security that can be involved in large towers - this is an ass pain to figure out on some of the more high profile ones - if someone else has already figured it out, no reason to heat up the site, and potentially get busted in the process....

Re: [Arvoitus] Antenna questions
Yeah thanks, I don't know much if anything about radiation. I removed the attatchment since I got my answer about the radiation too keep the location hidden (though I covered up all the info, my bad on the ID number) I only have 21 skydives right now, gonna be 31 next week, so I'm nowhere near ready to base, I was just wondering if I found something perfect near me. Since I'm only 17, I can only jump in Lodi so there's plenty of jumpers there to ask further questions about this antenna. Thanks for the help!
