Exteme sport research

I am undertaking postgraduate research through Massey University, New Zealand, examining the influence of social media on risk taking in extreme sport. I would like to invite BASE jumpers, skydivers, speedflyers, acro-paraglider pilots, white water kayakers, alpine mountaineers and mountain bikers to participate by answering a survey questionnaire. Please click on the link to complete the survey:

https://qasiasingleuser.asia.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_bIpmUl3ByhAEosJ

The more people that complete the survey results in a more powerful study. Please invite your friends who participate in any of these sports to complete the survey.

Most appreciated - Anton Green

I was thinking about this the other day. Their is probably only a handful of us that don't do social media. I'm sure if jumpers couldn't post pictures to Facebook or upload videos to Youtube the number of jumpers would decrease significantly. Not just because less people would know about the sport but also because they wouldn't be able to show off as much.

Wierd, there's thread after thread on here bitching about the impact of youtube and the GoPro generation but when someone shows up trying to find out what that impact is he immediately gets the brush off.

There was just an Extreme Sports Symposium in Denver Colorado @ University Hospital. Google it and it shows the syllabus, ect...

One of the speakers and MD's is a BASE jumper and WS BASE jumper. There was also a talk about it on NPR recently (may)

Interesting survey questions

I hope you will share your results/conclusion with the forums you sourced your data?

We're doing research on whether or not people get wet when they walk out into the rain or not. Please fill out my survey Cool

There's two issues here... one is that the answer to the question feels fairly obvious to us. The other is that these students come on here all the time with their surveys without ever engaging with properly and without ever coming back with the results.

Seems like lazy/armchair research to me. Why don't they go visit their local DZ and actually chat to some people.

Anton's an experienced sky jumper and will do a FBJC in September. He's worth helping out, in my opinion.

That's good to know, I've also just noticed his registration date.

He would probably get a better a response if he spoke about his current involvement in the sport.

Anyway, given this new info I'll happily complete the survey.
