Aspect Ratio vs Heading AND Controll
Low AR canopies have a tendency to open more so on heading from my exp. But if they open off heading it takes a lot to turn them around and one will lose major altitude (major meaning more than 100ft to me) trying to stall turn because the canopy quits flying. so one must milk the turn with a low AR canopy losing alt because of the canopy is not flying well because the wingspan is short. the entire canopy stops flying with the low AR.
With a higher AR, the canopy is still flying. the other side still flies but backwards. like backing out of a parking place to go left or right. pull one riser or toggle and the entire canopy starts flying backwards.
The pros and cons;
Pro; Low AR gives one more on heading openings than High AR. Cons; it is less controllable in the same amount of altitude.

Higher AR Pro; gives more controll.
cons; but opens off heading a bit more and a higher likelyhood of tension knots. but not really much more in my exp.

Now we add tracking and wingers into the equation. so the only thing i can say is that a low AR canopy is perfect for opening over the LZ. A high AR canopy will get you away from the object faster and without as much altidude loss and to the LZ..
End game is use the appropiate canopy for the object and flight plan or use the appropiate object and flight plan for the canopy.
I can give my experience but what I have said is only logic. no need to trump myself.
take care,
