The best action cam in low light / dark conditions?
If you were to choose one of the new "action cams" for night jumps, which one would be your pick? I know the gopro´s of the world are not really built for this purpose but some of them offer reasonably good performance on low light conditions as well. I have been looking towards the Sony HDR-AS100V, any experinces on this one?

A review I found from here : http://www.digitalversus.com/...00v-p20449/test.html states that "Sensitivity levels are really quite good, which helps the Sony AS100V stand out from its main rivals when shooting in low-light conditions. In fact, the Sony model out-performs the GoPro Hero3+ when filming in darker conditions."

Many thanks for your opinions!

how much do you want to spend is the question you should ask yourself. The tech is available and the prices are coming down. Fisheye gopro is way oldschool.
take care.

The best I've seen that is not super expensive is the Sony NEX line of digital cameras (not digital camcorder, it's a camera). They have a full sensor, work at high ISO and can record video.

Last time I was in the Valley I saw some video of a guy doing night building jumps with a Sony NEX 5 (I think) and I was super impressed. This was 1½ years ago so the newer NEX are probably even better.

Of course, this is a bit bigger than a GoPro, but still smaller than a digital camcorder.

Any thoughts on the Sony AS100V vs Gopro3 vs something else?

Just an update on my own topic, I went for the AS100V and so far my impression has been that at least the mounts on it absolutely fucking SUCK compared to Gopro. I mean seriously, has anybody from Sony ever tried to mount one of these things to any helmet with the mounts provided? I have mounted gopro´s to multiple helmets (including the one I´m working on now) and never had problems but the adhesive ones from Sony just don´t fit. Probably it is a kick ass camera but after dealing with gopro´s where the mounting takes about 20sec with the adhesive mounts it feels a bit old school to start drilling holes to the helmet and start fiddling around with screws etc.

honestly ive been looking into the same thing maretus. im by no means a camera/youtube/facebook whore, but recently i have engaged in the MOST significant and beautiful jumps of my short career, and unfortunately in low, post dawn light, i have only had black video with my gopro. no big deal, but it would have been nice to have the footage to show my grandkids. assuming i live that long. so far ive heard the AS100 is the boss as far as low light settings goes
