Service Bulletin
Date: June 11. 2014 Service Bulletin # BSB-001 Page 1 of 1 Subject: Black Dacron A lines on Mayhem Canopies.
Status: Mandatory
Identification:
All Mayhem BASE parachutes manufactured from September 2011 to March 2014.
Background: Bad Seed Base has received reports of three canopies with low jump numbers having broken A lines just below the A-B trap end point on hard openings on terminal jumps. The canopies all had similar configuration, 1/3 ZP Topskin with 3 or 4/7 vents. The lines broke on A2 and A3. (Center being A1) All jumpers landed with minimal injury. The line was tested from one of the canopies and the batch of lines these sets were made. The tensile strength was significantly lower than the 600lb tensile strength. The line tested broke in the low 400lbs range. We are unclear on which canopies are directly affected as the order came on several different spools. The canopies did not have an issue in slider down configuration.
Service Bulletin: All A lines replaced by Bad Seed Base, Senior Rigger, Master Rigger or Foreign equivalent. Contact Bad Seed Base for replacement lines.
Compliance Date: IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE NEXT TERMINAL USE.
