High line twist slider up, delaying opening
Had a jumper here at ITW whose canopy sniveled for 1-2 sec recently, he had a high line twist that prevented the slider coming down. Jumper pulled on risers and the canopy untwisted and inflated as normal.

I've only seen this once before many years ago, footage of Chemical Dan sniveling into a gravel slope somewhere.

Anyone else have experience? I guess it is due to the pack job rotating during line extraction.

Also is there a complete list of BASE jumping malfunctions online anywhere?

Re: [unclecharlie95] High line twist slider up, delaying opening
I had about a 2 sec snivel like this on my first slider-up jump. About a 4 sec delay from a bridge with my Mojo.

I believe it was only one twist and once I kicked out of it, the slider came down and canopy inflated really fast. Until then, it felt like nothing is slowing down my freefall.

Unfortunately I didn't wear a camera so there is no close-up footage. Other jumpers' footage is just as good as any video where someone says "holy shit".

There was quite a strong sidewind and another jumper that jumped before me, had also linetwists.

Packjob. I had the rig packed for a slider-down jump but then changed it to slider-up without repacking the whole thing. I don't remember exactly but I might have also closed D lines in the tapegate. I didn't use direct control or anything else to secure the slider.

I've done another 20 slider-up jumps with the same canopy since then and never had linetwists or snivel again. I do like to leave an extra margin there just in case Mr Snivel decides to pay a revisit.
