I have been Base Jumping since 1999. I did enough jumps and never learned to pack. I figured I wasn't going to buy gear and wasn't going to jump regularly so no need to learn. My friends usually packed for me. This past year I decided to get back into it, so this time I wanted to do it right. I just finished the FJC with Apex, bought new gear. The thing is I am still having a rough time packing. I just need some help any ideas?

Not all FJC are the same. I knew how to pack pretty well after my FJC. Practice makes perfect though.

If you completed a training course and are not comfortable packing, I'd suggest looking into a more complete training course.

why dont you just follow the manual that came with your new gear.

Honestly this (not sure guy was going for lulz or not but packing aint complicated manual could help as refresher til its instinct).
What is rough out of curiosity?

Just pack unpack for a few hours if u dont have it then probably not cut out to basejump.

Just do unpacked jumps....

Thanks everyone for the info. I drove down to San Diego and met up with a Base jumper from the forum and he was able to help me dial it in. I just did 15 more jumps that I packed myself and all were on heading. Thanks again.

Actually there are many ways to pack, but the best way to learn, in my opinion, is to follows some courses, learn the method, have with the course the DVD for memory, ... And a lot of practice.
At the end , the philosophy is always the same: tension line, line in the centre, symmetric packing.

One this is known, then the real story begging because it may change slightly by: the packing location, the jump to be made, the opening....

But still I think that packing is a must to know as part of the Base..
Jump is ok, but packing before, friends, locations and a sort of "spiritual " approach is what make BASE unique for me .
