Re: [gauleyguide] Someone should reach out to this guy
probably not for much longer, with all those nice baseball-slide-in landings in the dirt. it will probably take on a nice brown color, unless the fabric rips apart first.......

Nice scenery, looks like Moab maybe.

Re: [skyrockbike] Someone should reach out to this guy
Is that the same guy? Did he jump it... Twice? Or if it's not the same guy... Then some one jumped after him having seen that?

My balls feel so small right now.

There were some world class wing suit pilots on that load. I'm pretty sure he's already been "reached out to".

I'm not sure it did much good, though.

Re: [RiggerLee] Someone should reach out to this guy
Same guy, two different suits actually. I think the first was a viper and the second a v5. He was sketching out some of the people out there for sure.

Re: [hjumper33] Someone should reach out to this guy
I do hope that this guy understood from the feedback that what he did there was not at all "epic", "awesome" and "rad" but plain right fucking stupid and he survived with pure luck. Based on those 2 jumps, he should have never been there in the first place jumping those suits he was jumping. Go to the dropzone, learn how to fly and start off with beginner exits is my advice to him. It might be that there are no beginner exits in your area but strapping on a biggest suit you can find will not make it a good idea to jump with the big boys when they go to do some of the "more technical stuff",.

Re: [Twoply] Someone should reach out to this guy
Typical...I have it on my harddrive, should I upload it?
Edit
Fuck it, I just did. He had it on his channel for a long time untill people started pointing out his mistakes here. Why post it in the first place then? I bet I'm not the only one who saved it, it wouldn't suprise me if it will pop up in some "FAIL COMPILATION" video or something :P

Re: [Lukasz_Se] Someone should reach out to this guy
Other than panicking after opening, was the first flight really that bad? A bit of a low pull followed by a bit of panic, but it didn't seem that ridiculous. Am I way off here? I wasn't there so obviously I have no clue, but it looked like a nice exit and a decent flight before the flubber.

No need to mention the second flight. Pirate

He was unable to control his flight heading (with the wing suit) and drifted off course. Normal openings are over the LZ. His glide was also pretty poor. It's my understanding that this was his first flight on both suits--he never practiced with them out of a plane.

It's a great location, and the support from the helicopter guy (who is also a jumper and really wonderful person) is amazing. It would be a shame to see it burned by accidents so soon after it's discovery and development.

I don't even know what to say to that. Except maybe, HOLY SHIT!

Gotcha, wouldn't have known that without being told. I thought that's just where he wanted to fly.

Re: [bluhdow] Someone should reach out to this guy
Well, theres one video of him taking the vampire (suit he jumps in the 2nd video) off an A, so he had at least one "easy" jump on it prior. Totally safe progression Tongue

And his canopy navigation and control is just off the charts, so everything's fine, nothing to see here. Move along.

It's much safer to learn these things on the ground so to speak before jumping out of something dangerous like an airplane? Right?

Base Jump > Wingsuit Base > AFF > Wingsuit Skydive

After years I will not be surprised this guy live a long carrier in base jumping, as he could be gone tomorow. There is no rule of thumb who is next, or who will end up on the list. Many have surprised me and still kicking strong many years after we dooomed them an early death, and others we never thought would, did!

Darwins law is not consistent

Extremely well said. One of the truest things I've heard about base in a while.

Welcome to the new school mentality. THE Snakes and ladders mentality. Take as many shortcuts as you can with the ladders and ignore all the snakes along the way. Unimpressed

Quite possibly.

But there is really no walking access to some of those exit points. It's either serious technical climbing or helicopter.

And we're Americans...hence lazy. Smile

So you didnt understand my post?

Read it once more, and remember to copy paste everything I state in next post Wink

I could mention some few high profiled jumpers who started out like this once and still kicking 10 - 20 years later. Some have more luck in their bucket than others.

10-20 years ago a lot fewer people were BASE jumping, thus the list was not growing very fast.
20 years ago we didn't have Wingsuits,...
10 years ago, perhaps only three people had done a proxy flight,....
20 years ago we didn't have Youtube. People might have been killing themselves stupidly, but not because they could "short track " and push the envelope in terrain flying,...
It's a different game now, and that's why we are seeing 20 or so people a year joining "The List ", mainly in Wingsuits, and there'll be more to come,
So perhaps I didn't understand your post,.... but perhaps you didn't understand mine either,
Regards, B.

Re: [StealthyB] Someone should reach out to this guy
The location is highly sensitive, the jumper was warned by me and others.

American wingsuit base jumping is not for beginners

The jumper was lucky to walk away with minor injuries, 2 busted wingsuits, and a bruised ego. I wish him the best, hope i see him in europe sometime :)

Thanks Bro. for putting it this way, you are stating this in the correct perspective in my opinion, I moved from the States to Europe because the USA wasn't the most friendly environment for a Wingsuit BASE enthusiast. Things are opening up in the USA because of design technology and people that are psyched to put in a lot of hard work to open new sites,.... it would be a shame if this hard work was burned by individuals that were too selfish to consider the bigger picture,

Re: [StealthyB] Someone should reach out to this guy
Even before wingsuit, we had the same discussions about the same risk takers. Good old proxy was vertical falling, and low pulls. Nothing have changed, big walls still kills. The same issue about preserving objects, same ego driven risk takers, and so on. The only change, is that base is proven it can be done safe, but it is still up to the jumper to choose how much risk he or she want to add to the jump. Patience is still one of our weakest skill.

This IS wingsuit BASE, there is NO room for panicking at any point during the evolution. if panic is your solution, take a step back and reassess your ability. Yes, it was terrible.
