Body Armor - Jacket or a Vest
Looking for some inputs on Jacket vs Vest for upper body protection.

If you use any upper body protection, please share your experience.
If you have to buy which one will you prefer and why?
Will Vest + elbow pad provide the same protection as Jacket?
I feel Vest + elbow pad will be less restrictive than a Jacket.

Any feedback on any of these two products?

The other advantage of the vest is that you can choose not to use the elbow pads if you think they are creating a snag hazard (or for other reasons).

I think you will find you dislike anything that comes with shoulder pads... even if you do get a jacket, I might remove those particular components DIY style.

I have the jacket. Like it. It fits well. I removed the shoulder protection as stated by others. I also do not use the chest protector. Make sure you put it on early if you are jumping in cold weather... It's rock hard in the cold and needs body heat to form fit.

If shoulder and chest protector are removed, does it make sense to buy just Spine Protector like this, instead of the Vest?

Will save me some money :)

Sure that will work but I like the elbow pads and may, at some point, want to use the other protection. Plus I got the jacket for cheap.

Here is one for $130

I already have Elbow pads from POC. So probably I won't need them in the jacket/vest. I ordered POC Vest and the medium size I ordered seems a bit loose as the spine protector tends to move when I am not using the belt. Should I order small size for slugger fit? How snug should the spine protector fit for best protection? I think as long as it save your spine from a direct impact it should be good.

The spine protector does move around a bit in the pocket it is in, so I sewed down the fabric near the top so it has to stay at the bottom of that pocket thus covering the low spine better. Mine fits right in the middle range, not too tight, not too loose.
