Re: [base428] Eric Hill - Paragliding Accident
Eric was someone who was almost a superhero in every aspect of life. Myself and one other friend took him up a big A in the desert on his first terminal jump. He joined me in Italy and did some amazing jumps at Brento. We partied at bridge day and did many jumps around Salt Lake. He came to visit in Japan and probably did the first ever speedflight on the island of Hokkaido.
1. He was wearing head gear but it was very minimal protection compared with more legitimate ski helmets etc.
2. He didn't heed to a warning from a more experienced speedflyer about a notorious zone where turbulence often lives.
This guy lived a life 30 times over what most people live. I hope we can all take his zest for life and thirst for seeing other cultures.
