Identify the Quad-copter???
BASE people,

Does anyone know the model of quad-copter used to shoot the segments in this video? Were any of you there, or responsible for operating the quad?

A friend was impressed by the stability of the quad and wants to purchase one...

Video

Thanks!

It's not so much about the copter, it's more about the gimbal and the controller you use.
Go to http://dji.com, you will find everything there.
And there are hundreds of turtorials on the net.

But I would by a hexta copter, not a quad copter...

it would be cool to add this technology to one of those setups

Obviously something like this introduces additional risks and something to be distracted by but the technology looks interesting for down the track.

Wonder if it would be compatible with my TBS DP.http://vimeo.com/90643560[[/url]

How does that thing avoid collisions? Does it have onboard radar or echo-location? Its ability to fly through canyons and near trees seems unrealistically-amazing to me. This is DARPA-like.

Re: [seekfun] Identify the Quad-copter???
It avoids collisions because it isn't automated. There is a 100% chance that the drones shooting the footage were human controlled. Last year, I briefly passed some emails back and forth with a guy trying to do this same thing. His approach (which seems similar) was get a bunch of cool shots with high-end manually controlled drones and then pass them off as technology available through his company. Also, a few of those shots require a gimbal that isn't showing on any of there off-the-shelf quad copter setups.

I should have lathered on my sarcasm a little more heavily. I was already of the mind that p<.001 of that being realistic - especially at any consumer price point.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions, Matt!
