Festival for wingsuit pilots in Russia (Caucasus mountains)
Gleb Vorevodin, the winner of PRO BASE U-TURN 2013, is making an event for wingsuit pilots in the Ingush Republic (the south of Russia, the Caucasus mountains) and is inviting experienced wingsuit pilots to participate in it.

I am placing this text at his request, as he is rarely online.

The festival will take place since the 30th of May till the 5th of June in the mountains next to the village of Dzeirach (https://mapsengine.google.com/...u_TaupQ.kcX1vk_nrQp4). The event is official and is supported by the local government.

Few exits are planned:

1) Myat Loam. The nearest (2,5 hours on foot), but technically difficult exit. A jump into the canyon, on start you need to turn for 45 degrees right the way. Rockdrop is 7 seconds.

Apache, Gleb: http://youtu.be/Bhbr05jfdS8

2) Tsei Loam. 4 hours of climbing at a great height (from 2000 to 3000), the exit is technically easy, rockdrop is 9 sec.

3) The exit is still unnamed and is near Georgian military road. Climbing for 3 hours, rockdrop is 7 sec, jump into the canyon.

3) The exit is still unnamed and is in neighboring region, Osetia. Climbing for 3 hours, rockdrop is 7 sec, jump into the canyon.

There are two more potential exits, which we haven’t yet managed to try due to the snow. The snow will melt away by June. By eye (from the bottom) they seem to be technically easy. One of them is 600-700 m; the landing area is at the distance of a 1 km. The other one is about 1200 m. high.

We have prior arranged about the helicopter, 1 lift will cost you 1500-2000 rubles (40-55 U.S. dollars). But at present we can not guarantee the availability of the helicopter for sure, that is why please be ready for climbing on foot.

For those who will decide to come, we will make an official invitation for obtaining Russian visa.

The easiest way to reach the place is to arrive by air to Moscow and leave from there on the 29th of May with the flight SU 5370 for Mineralnye Vody (MRV), the return flight is SU 5375 on the 6th of June by Aeroflot (http://www.aeroflot.ru/cms/en ). Tickets now costs ~130 dollars. A free transfer from the airport to Dzeirach will be organized, as well as a return. Another way to reach the place is Vladikavkaz (OGZ), there will be a transfer from there either, but at present the tickets are more expensive.

Accommodation in the local hotel costs from 1000 rubles (27 $) for bed in a 4-bed room to 1500 (41 $) for single room. It’s per day, inclusive 3 times meals. Photos of the hotel you can see at website, but it’s only in russian.
http://prohotel.ru/hotel-151478/0/
There is no need in booking, all rooms will be available.

There is no fee for participation. Also there will be a free banquet, T-shirts and other small items.
If you would like to participate, please contact us via e-mail basejumper1395@gmail.com and send us the scanned copy (or a picture) of your passport for drawing-up of your invitation.

Please note that exits 1 and 3 are rather hard and will not forgive you any mistakes. You should be completely sure of your start to jump from them.
We’d like to see experienced and prudent pilots, who know and respect their limits.

See ya! :)

P.S. Small presentation of the region with mixed jumps

Hi there!

This year it'll be the festival in Ingushetia again.
Dates - 25-31 of May.

If you want to take part, send me a massage to stormentrooper@gmail.com.

We try to find out about the helicopter for lifting jumpers to the mountain.
Most likely that you shoud pay for it. Initial cost of it will be around $300 per person for 3 jumps. The cost of following jumps is minimum $100.
Now we need to know will it be quorum for helicopter or not.
Please let us know if you're ready to prepay helicopter. ($300 per person for 3 jumps).
In the end of Apri l- in the beginning of May we'll make the final decision about the helicopter. It's time when you should prepay.
But also we can go up on foot :)

We can make an official invitation for obtaining Russian visa.
As well I can help you with buying tickets Moscow-Ingush Republic-Moscow, meet you in Moscow and accompany you in Russia.
But I have to work in the beginning of the week and I go to Ingushetia from 27 of May till 2 of June.

In any case you should send me pictures of your passport page with photo as the territory of the event is a borderland, and all foreigners must obtain special permission from Federal Security Service.

I think it's a play on the Bridge Day 2015. But also maybe because it's Russia... Tongue

Why so negative? Be happy that base events get organised in the first place.

Don't worry about passports. It's standart practice in Russia. FSS should check all foreigners, who staying in the border area for a long time. If you are not a terrorist or a spy, you don't have to worry about it :)
It's not associated with basejumping. Our festival is completely legal, local authorities support it.

Seems like Russia is still a better place to go for US citizens than Turkey...:

I've been to Russia/Ukraine etc many times the last few years, and in every occasion felt way more welcome there then the TSA made me feel with the 2,5 hour lines for fingerprints, visa, swab of my hands/gear and rectal exam every time I enter the USA.

Every once in a while one of our airliners gets shot down over Ukraine, but that aside...nothing bad to sayTongue

During this festival Gleb Vorevodin, Valery Rozov and other guys open 7 new exits in Caucas region.

Helicopter was free for 1 day (2 lifts for each participant), other days jumpers pay for it. The cost was ~100 euro for 1 lift.

You can see some video on Gleb's channel:

The region has huge potential for basejumping! :)
