When I saw this topic I was hoping it was a separate thread created for either Dan or Ludovic and not another fatality.

Frown Another awful weekend for BASE.

It happened with her husband, Paul. The two of them had gotten into BASE recently. She was a very experienced skydiver and not the type to take unnecessary risks. I don't know any more details of the jump than what's on BFL. I know she was an amazing person though. My condolences Paul...

Hmm... I would consider plain clothes from nose 3 an unnecessary risk... Especially opening at 5-6 seconds.

I would not jump there without a track suit, but I weigh about 210 (92kg) with gear in my best shape lately.

I was always terrified of that exit because I always considered pulling at less than 8 suicide and the ledge gets scary if you go unstable. 10+ quickly gets into super low territory, so there's a very small window where it feels "safe". You see a lot of people there with no other cliff jumps which I can't fathom.

FROM BFL -

Ricki did a 5-6 second freefall and opened the canopy facing the direction of Lauterbrunnen . The canopy opened straight (facing direction Lauterbrunnen). Afterwards she didn't turn the canopy and was flying parallel to the cliff. After a few more seconds she Impacted the tallus and slid down....!
REGA Arrived 8-10 Minutes later with her, but they couldn't do anything for her.

From this it sounds like she died or was incapacitated immediately after opening. Torn aorta? Broken neck? Was there an autopsy performed?

I know it sounds like the canopy opened out on heading but this was from someone who does not write the best English..(Germanic) I suppose if you have jumped at this site.. you would know that when she jumped her canopy opened facing Lauterbrunnen and that it opened straight that way.. for those of us its a 60 left.. or alongside the wall...

she then did not turn her canopy and impacted the lower talus.. and sliding down ...

I keep the list written the way the person who was there wrote it to me..

I hope that clears things up...

Re: [MBA-PATTO] Fatality Lauterbrunnen 30. March 2014
Could her lack of immediate reaction be down to a hard opening, or one that damaged her functional ability?
Had one that left me seeing "stars" way after landing and completely compromised my physical ability.

Very sad news.

Does anybody know if it was a slider down jump and what canopy?

My condolences to the husband and family.
