Counting the Cost
Tomorrow I will have a back op to remove pieces of a disc that have lodged in my Sciatic nerve. Probable cause; traumatic impact or opening shock. This did not just happen, it is the result of a long career jumping from any thing that flies, floats or is fixed for years in both military and civilian theatres.
I lost count some place around 3000+ jumps with many night, off LZ load carrying exits into non spec DZ's, often as far as 16Km+ off and been "rag dolled so many times both on opening and landing I have lost count.
More broken bones/injuries than I care to think off and fuck all sympathy. My point; I would change nothing, it has been my choice to jump and I am the richer for the experience. Take care and above all enjoy, the ride maybe shorter than you think!
