the future
So a while back I saw an article about new bans in schools. apparently there is a trend towards banning balls to try and make play time safer. This isn't the same article but it will give you the idea.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/09/living/parents-middle-school-bans-balls-recess/

It really made me shake my head but then today I saw this...

Is this the future of sports? Personally I think its been all down hill ever since they banned edge weapons in gladiatorial games. I don't have any kids but I've got friends that are at that point in their lives where they are raising children every where from toddlers to teen agers. I look at some of the things that have happened in the educational system in this country. And more then that the basic culture of today in comparison to when I was growing up. I guess this officially makes me an old fart but think about it. What will the country be like when it's run by men that were not allowed to play with balls because it was too dangerous. You think it's bad now? Just wait.

Re: [RiggerLee] the future
It's not just in America unfortunately, it seems that a lot of places are coming with this kind of bullshit. Gandi's words "lacking manly virtues" comes to my mind. Yes, even Gandi though some people should man up!

Every scar that I have brings me so many good memories!

When I was younger we used to play a game called Punch-o-Ball. We would lock ourselves with a hard indoor football (soccer) ball inside this sort of courtyard, about 1/3 the size of a basketball court. It was fully surrounded by walls and fences so you couldn't leave. The only rule was: after you kicked the ball, you could only kick it again after someone else kicked it so basically, we would just kick the ball at each other as hard as we could and then run. There were no winners.

Aww... The memories of 3 or 4 panicking people squeezing into a corner while someone was charging towards the ball... I can still see their faces...

The football (soccer) with the inflatables looks like a good laugh though.

Re: [RiggerLee] the future
I agree with your main point, but just wanted to mention that the youtube clip is just two Norwegian comedians trying to have some fun and "inventing" new, weird sports. It has nothing to do with the main issue. You can see the same guys mixing soccer with electro shock therapy here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuKva8GUwBk

I agree, "experienced" BASE jumpers today can't even do more than a go-and-throw from 325'. AngelicTongue

Re: [snhughes] the future
we used to slap each other across the face. it would start with a little light tap, and wed go back and forth until we were literally using our full arm cocked back as far as it would go and smacking the SHIT out of each other as hard as we could until someone pussed out. faces were blood red. mild head trauma.......

guess that explains a bit about my fucked up mentality

my role in the movie was the kid who meets the girl and falls in love, all i did were makeout scenes and my girlfriend in the movie was none other than the beautiful jessica alba in her very first hollywood role. she was a badass little skater chick back then and i can honestly say im one of the few men who has had my tongue down her throat about 2 dozen times.............
