If you go to Switzerland get air REGA for only 30 Swiss francs.
It pays for the very very expensive chopper ride.
Generally it is a very good idea to pay the REGA patronage if you go to CH BUT you have to understand that REGA patronage IS NOT an insurance. It is a donation for the organization which in exchange can waive the rescue costs entirely or partially.
As a token of appreciation for this support, Rega can, at its own discretion and within the bounds of its resources, waive the costs for the services listed below for patrons, wholly or in part. This includes both rescue services that Rega provides itself and any services of other providers which it organises. Such services can only be provided at reduced or no cost, however, if health insurers and other insurance companies or other liable third parties do not or only partially cover the costs of the rescue mission. Under all circumstances, Rega provides its rescue services and also grants any possible cost reductions without any legal obligations, since these can only be given within the limits of Rega’s human and technical resources as well as the means at disposal. So please remember that if you make a 30chf donation to REGA and become a patron, they are under no obligation to pay your rescue cost. Personally I have always had a separate rescue insurance and paid my REGA membership as pure donation for the organization. In case you are not insured or your insurance is not covering the rescue, they might bail you out if you´re a patron but they also might bail you out only partially.
