PD base canopy
Saw an advertisement for the "proxy". Interesting name for a canopy. I've seen a few prototypes over the last couple of years. Anyone have more details?

Something tells me Jay Moldewetski is behind this!

"Proxy" is kind of a stupid name for anything -- besides, well, a proxy -- unless you speak ESL.

Maybe the canopy will allow users to get on Facebook and Youporn when in China.

Re: [hjumper33] PD base canopy
I saw Jason jumping it in the valley last year. Small tail pocket and spectra lines is all I really noticed from a glance. He seemed to like it!

i believe it will allow you to spoof ip adresses, and reroute IP information through a network of servers, all while under canopy. would make for some ultra cool youtube footage to be remotely hosting torrent sites and hacking peoples email after exiting a low span with a 10 second canopy ride

where is the ones they were testing with the vents?

Re: [wasatchrider] PD base canopy
Id bet that they came to an agreement with CR. Not suprised that the first thing they came up with was a lightweight canopy when they already technically produce a standard weight and a vented version.

I'm pretty sure they did, because CR is the first listing on the dealers for the new canopy.

Re: [TomAiello] PD base canopy
And PD is the first on the dealers for CR.... I smell a conspiracy!

Re: [hjumper33] PD base canopy
Is anybody else put off by the $2500 price tag? An Ace built in the same factory costs $1400. The material and labor costs can't be that different between the two.

Can't they just build me an Ultralight Ace for $1650? (Hint: I asked a year or two ago, the answer was no.) Frown

I hear rumors about Squirrel entering the canopy market as well? Got info on this, anyone?

Re: [Heat] PD base canopy
They're formed by two guys who work closely with ozone and already make wingsuits and containers. I would be shocked if they didn't.

The Squirrel Ibex should be released very soon. I know that they were working on getting it on their web site last week. It's supposed to be an ultralite canopy. I believe they have a second canopy in the pipeline, which is more oriented toward slider down stuff.

Shhhh.

If you say that too loud the obvious answer is _not_ to reduce the price of the new canopy.

yeah man, i had asked Nancy at CR a couple of years ago the same thing... not yet she said. Wink

i guess we're there, more or less.

Re: [TomAiello] PD base canopy
Spotted in LB some months ago.

Jason looked happy with it.

The canopy looked like "a classic 7 cells base canopy" - in light version.

The fabric was feeling like the light stuff used for rescues - far away from the quality of the (expensive) PN9 from Porcher.

I expect a faster increase of porosity over time.

It opened and landed fine.
