Speech
I really enjoyed this speech, and I thought some other people on here would like it and identify with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwztaQgv3-Y

Re: [hikeat] Speech
Did you check out the other videos this guy has uploaded on his boobtube account? He looks like a common garden variety Islamist militant sympathiser...

I didn't watch it, but I'm pretty sure the Ayotollah ain't advocating free love and party drugs philosophy.

Re: [hikeat] Speech
I just listened to the whole thing, and I find myself largely in agreement.

KKS, did you listen to it, or are you just making judgements based on what guy linked to it on Youtube (who was not the creator/orator)?

Good post

Re: [jumpkks] Speech
The orator is apparently Larken Rose.

You can click through to his web site to read about him (or read his writings), but I'm really not convinced that he's a "common garden variety Islamist militant sympathizer."

Re: [TomAiello] Speech
No, I listened to it all. It makes some good points, but it is mainly a pontification to music. Sympathy for the Devil does a better job for me, and doesn't take as long.

Ok, lets get rid of the government. It certainly is dysfunctional, and I'm no fan of the nanny state, and even less sympathetic to its corporate masters. But I'm also reminded of a conversation I once had with a guy who came out of the communist block as it descended into chaos. He was the first person I ever met who had actually lived under communism.

I asked him "So, what's it really like?" He said "It's the best system". I was incredulous, thinking "then why did you leave?" ...he went on..."No, really, it's the best system.... It only has one problem." then the punch line... "It doesn't work!"

Re: [TomAiello] Speech
Kit Kirja would be the Islamist, judging by the other 400+ videos he has uploaded.
I might have jumped to the conclusion that he actually owned the intellectual property he'd uploaded on his youtube account...silly me.

I was living in Budapest in 1990, so I met a lot of people who'd recently emerged from the communist system.

There was a popular joke at the time (which sounds better in Hungarian than english) which translates roughly as:

"What is Socialism?"

"The solution to problems that would not have otherwise existed."
