Re: [Dadsy] norway
you have the fast ferry (recommended) and the slow ferry. here is the Stavanger BASE Klubb website:

make sure you get food in town before you go to lysbotn.

Re: [JBag] norway
yes I have seen that thanks Jewbag, but my flights get in after the ferry leaves, the way I read it. So was wondering if I should get a car or spend the night and get the ferry the next day, or something else

you're fucked.

but it depends on your budget, when you get to that side you wont be using your car too much unless you wanted to go to the nearest town at 1hr away to get groceries. I would try and find someone that will be driving there and hop in with them, otherwise just wait for a day. shits expensive out there. in the end it comes down to your personal preference and what your goals are. the cliff will still be there the next day.

Stay the night, hit some pubs down on the water front. It's a great little city. As for the ferry; if you are not in a rush try the slow ferry at least one way. It was a nice trip, lots of great scenery and good photo opportunities. Might be better to do slow on the way back after your trip when you are tired and relaxed.

Stay overnight. Take advantage of the time to grocery shop and do some touristing.

If you do decide to rent a car, the road down into Lysebotn is pretty interesting - on the top 50 most dangerous roads in the world:) If you are in to dangerous things like driving and shit.

One thing to make clear is that there is NOTHING in Lysebotn but the lodging/pub, cabins, the BASE Klubb, and a couple of buildings. The lodging has beer and food etc at Olav's but other than that, it is pretty bare. Norway is pretty expensive to begin with so either bring food and beer with you from Stavanger, or bring a lot of cash. I stay the night in and out every time in Stavanger. It is a rad town with some great food and pubs!
