Lightweight aircrafts
Looking for someone with experience in jumping lightweight aircrafts. More specific the Rans S6.

This might not be 'BASE' related seeing how this is an aircraft. But i think i might have more luck asking here than any skydiving forum.

Re: [stayx] Lightweight aircrafts
I have jumped a few ultralights but sadly so far it was
always with SKY gear, which makes it a little scarier
given a subterminal deployment of a highly loaded
elliptical canopy . . .

Anyways, I Googled Rans S6, see attached image.
We had to remove the 2nd stick to make it possible
and the climb out is a little tricky and requires the
jumper to be flexible/foldable.

Do you have any specific questions?
Are you familiar with low speed exits?

Re: [stayx] Lightweight aircrafts
I have jumped an ultra light aircraft with BASE gear S/D from 500'.

It was a bit awkward getting out of the seat to exit. The pilot was real sensitive about where you step.

I exited trying to stay level or head high and pitched while rotating on my back.

Needless to say I wound up with some bridle rash.

Good time though.

Re: [GreenMachine] Lightweight aircrafts
I'm guessing the challenge here would be to maneuver around in the plane and exit without causing to much hassle for the pilot.

My main concern is how the plane will react when the jumper leans over and sets off. Exit might fuck up for the pilot and in worst case those paperthin airplanes might break in two for all i know.

When something seems too good to be true...

And when it comes to low speed exits, i'm not too sure if i follow. I would by far keep the speed down to a minimum (wich i guess would make the maneuvering and exit more complicated if not already done). Not sure what the march speed on a RANS is tho.

I'm guessing exit would be at around 3000ft +/-

Re: [stayx] Lightweight aircrafts
I jumped a weight shift microlight loads of times, and if you grab one end of the control bar and hang off it the pilot makes a lot of noise.
It's funny though.

Thanks for the vid. Not the same type of aircraft - but they look pretty fun aswell.

I would def be using a base rig.
