50th Anniversary of my first jump
Tomorrow will mark the 50th anniversary of my first parachute jump - January 1, 1964.

Needless to say, I was hung over from a bit of excessive New Year's Eve partying the night before.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone still alive has me beat.

Happy anniversary and happy New Year.

Thanks to you and many other pioneers, I've had a lot of fun.

You didn't specify so I've got to ask, do you only count civilian sport parachuting? Cause otherwise I'm fairly certain there are still some WWII paratroopers alive.

Good point. I'm sure you're right. I hadn't really put a lot of profound thought into it. The 50th anniversary of my first base jump is still another 2+ years away. I probably should have waited until July 2016 to post about that anniversary.

My great uncle has got you by about 22 years :) To be fair, the last time he flew a parachute was in Belgium I believe and he got shot in the leg under canopy.

My hat is certainly off to your great uncle - - I was just one year old at that time. Maybe I'm not as old as I feel Smile

Ah! That answers everything. I always wondered why they used carbon dating to determine my age.
