[reply]I haven't gotten into BASE myself, in fact I am nothing but some German guy lingering around the BASE and skydiving forums to gain some knowledge.

I was wondering how your family and your friends reacted when you told them you were about to start BASE. Considering that BASE is one of the most dangerous extreme sports, I would expect the average mom to freak out about it.

If I've ever got into BASE, my parents would be quite fine with it I guess. The've always supported me doing whatever I wanted to do, but still, BASE is something different.

I got a gopro as a gift, and I just assumed they wanted me to start base jumping.

My parents were pretty cool about it. They even ground crewed for me at an A near their house. After I broke my pelvis and continued BASE after a lengthy recovery, they were not nearly as cool about it.

I just over exaggerate how its like skydiving and that if I do everything right I should be fine. Just tell them if they were as bad ass as you they could jump off of shit and survive too. And, if you do happen to go in, its all just a dream anyway, so you will just keep waking up in this bullshit world, with the same bullshit people, doing the same bullshit thing. At least you were having fun, instead of having an atrophied, controlled, and measly excuse of a life. Make sure ur not a PuSsies B1G mofo. Take a step over the edge, you wont regret it!!!

I came from a skydiving family so my parents knew the difference between BASE and Skydiving whereas most parents just see parachutes.

My dad was pretty cool with it in the beginning. My mom faked a heart attack shortly before my 7th jump to try and get me to stop.

5 years later my dad thinks its stupid and a waste of money but I think he's really just jealous he never got the chance to travel the world jumping. My mom still wishes I would stop but is more supportive as she thinks I mainly just travel to do the legal events now.
