Is he still giving his exit count as "Anarcho-Capitalism!" ?

I really like Brian. He's one of the few people to borrow a book (or video) out of my classroom and actually return it to me later.

He's a bit of a socialist when compared with, say, Adam Lanes, but heck, we all have our failings.

Re: [TomAiello] Wingsuit flying sans left bootie
Haha I think its about status quo there tom. I do love Brian, and he is probably one of the most talented wingsuit pilots in the world that youve never heard of, and likes it that way. He had actually sent me the first person view of this flight and a description about his booty coming off on exit due to some ice at the top before this came out. He felt controllable and decided to go for his planned line, smart or not. I guarantee if he thought this was going to blow up as big as it did, booty or not, he would have never agreed to let them use the footage. In the days of sponsorship, one upping, and youtube heros of base, hes quite refreshing.

Did this "blow up" doesn't seem like a big deal to me... just a little thread from us base forum dorks. did not mean to point fingers or anything.

I guess it is hard to brake off your flight, when the needle is in your vein already!

I actually think he handled it very well. I personally know a guy very well who was in the same situation and handled it not half as good and ended up crashing thru a old roof in Brasil... :-)

Dennis quote from late 80ìes, made me remember how cool it was just to jump off things, and get onheading openings and land safe.

And it is still true, very true.

Happy christmas and happy new year.

Yikes, that is close to the ground. I would hate to be a mountain yeti that walks unknowingly in his way! Damn pterodactyls!!!! Always ruining the yeti's day.

what difference does it make? a big difference aerodynamically? or just f cold/avant garde?

n anelka used to tuck one tracksuit trouser leg up to try & set a trend, touche clearly.

If your foot isn't in the bootie, then your leg zipper and whatever snap/magnet system you have is the only thing keeping you in control of your leg wing.

Yea, it would probably hold. But what if it starts working itself loose?

Uhhhh... change your glide angle and bail on the low line?

Of course that's what you'd try to do, but that is assuming that the unzipping of the leg wing doesn't make you crash before you have a chance to try.

I don't have too much experience with big wingsuits, but my guess is that a loose leg zipper and no bootie would have some sort of influence on the flight trajectory, and five feet off the deck at 100 mph isn't a good environment for experimentation.

And you assume the leg zipper would unzip because...

Re: [robinheid] Wingsuit flying sans left bootie
Because stuff vibrates at high airspeeds and that can work zippers loose. I've had my rw suit leg zipper open up five or six inches in freefall, for example, and guess what - it happened when my bootie came off.

Granted, the zipper on that wing suit is probably a higher quality zipper but I wouldn't want to chance it.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer to have a bootie and a zipper keeping my leg wing on rather than just a zipper. Sounds pretty self explanatory when you're playing on the edge, no?

That's why wingsuits have snaps to keep the leg zippers from coming loose whether the bootie is on or not, yes?

LOL... indeed we have.

Fun conversation and the fact remains that it's an effing amazing video and the guy had a lot of confidence to go for it without the bootie even if it did feel okay. I would have taken a high line and tried the low line the next time. As a friend of mine said, dude has cojones as big as beach balls.
