I've searched online until my head is about to explode......

Is it reasonable to use a vented canopy, say a blackjack, for terminal jumps? I'm thinking the slider largely negates any issues that might be caused by the vents.

You are thinking correctly.

The whole canopy will most certainly explode in a ball of flame. You have no chance at surviving terminal with vents.

J/k it's fine. I have 5/7 in mine and it's good with a large mesh slider, but you can even go small mesh or double small mesh to slow it down slightly.

you need to be particularly careful about symmetry with the vents. if air doesnt fill all the ports evenly then there is a chance that you may cut off your number 4 vents while your 7's are inflating. this will most definitely lead to a streamer. good knowing you Lemur.

easy way to negate any issues with terminal openings and vented canopies...........

just put several strips of duct tape over each one of the vents, outside and inside the cells. this will thus temporarily turn your canopy into a non vented one.

poof! good to go, then you can remove the duct tape and reapply as needed

On really windy days be aware your vented canopy can be difficult to collapse. Detach the RSL when you get low and be ready to cutaway.

Then you get sticky shit on your canopy, it gets wet, sits in the sun, gets packed, hardens, and you look like you have splooge on your vents. Just make the whole canopy out of ducktape.

Than you just get shit in your canopy. So a 5\7 vents= 5 times as more shit than a single vent. And because some asshole put cross-ports in there, in reality you'll have to clean shit out of all 7 cells.
Now is that what you want?
