Some crooks smashed out my back window and ran off with my camping gear, CanonXTI, and first BASE rig.
Rig is most important, so i'll post a pic and notice here.

Everything was mfg in 2007.

Container: Gargoyle. All black w/ articulated harness, SS hardware. Red prayer flag hand-sewn onto top flap (from BASE683's trip to Everest BSBD)
Canopy: Blackjack 240. Navy, Black, Red Center Cell. Black Lines.
PC: Blue Vented 42"

Gear was unpacked, in a black apex stashbag.

Gear looks used, I was the first owner and put about 350 jumps on it. It was my first BASE rig and my only slider off rig. So it carries as much if not more sentimental value as usefulness in the field. It would be nice to get it back if anybody comes across it.

Dude that SUCKS! A friend and I had the EXACT same thing happen a few months ago. Back window smashed in and the car got cleaned out. All of our BASE gear and a lot of skydiving stuff too.

Lucky for us the owner of a local DZ had the idea to post wanted adds around town, in the newspapers, and on craigslist. Something like, "Looking for used skydiving gear. Parachutes, helmets, blah blah blah." Sure enough, within just a few days he had a meeting set up with the two meth heads who stole our shit, and the local PD crashed the party. We had everything back in our hands by the end of the week.

This is a good idea. I would definitely check craigs list and put up a wanted ad. Make it pretty general, just say, looking for used skydiving gear or looking for a used 'parachute'. The general public don't know what a base rig is or even a canopy.

I'm in the bay area so I'll keep an eye out.

I got my sky rig back after I found it for sale on CL too! cops didn't help AT ALL. I had to buy it back, albiet was just $180, but still. And Tom G****** got his gear back recently after he proved to the cops it was his rig by pulling out the packing card. (not that you have a packing card for a base rig)

I have a secluded swamp behing my house if someone needs to disappear, just saying. My coyotes are hungry :-D.

Gear was found through Craigslist in the Oakland area. Some guy bought it through a 'swap meet' for $100 and was attempting to sell it for $500. Another jumper was in the process of buying it when it was realized to be my stolen gear. I was put in contact with the dude that has the gear and he was really cool about it. I reimbursed him the $100 he paid plus shipping to me. In a week I'll be jumping it again!
